Default Go Karting meet point and timings

Right guys, following on from Sy's post in the other thread....

VENUE
Lakeside Karting Race Way
Arterial Road (A1306)
Thurrock
Essex RM19 1EA

Satellite Navigation: N 51.49285 E 0.28622 or RM19 1EA
Website: http://www.lakesidekarting.co.uk/home/
How to get there: http://www.lakesidekarting.co.uk/howtogethere/

ARRIVAL TIME
11:30 am at the latest, Lakeside have stated that "Any persons arriving after this time will not be permitted to race"

We will be participating in an Iron Man event which consists of a 10 minute timed qualifying session to determine grid positions followed by a 50 minute race that will be split into 2 25 minute sessions with a break in between.

PAYMENT
We are all paid up and ready to go, but we will each need to pay £3.00 per driver on the day to cover insurance.

PARKING
Parking at the race way seems Ferrari friendly and is off the beaten track so should not attract any attention, Personally I'm not bringing my car, which takes the pressure off deciding where to get food afterwards, I'm unfamiliar with the area so am more than happy to see what the general feeling is after the race regarding getting a bite to eat (thats if we have the energy to raise our hands to our mouths at that stage)

we do need to make sure we get there on time

we'll be at Hyde Park at 10am leaving there at 10.15 which gives us a bit of leeway as it should only be a 1 hour journey.

if anyone is going straight there please let me know

Hi all

I'll be playing too on Sunday so thought I'd get my bum on here and register at long last!

I do enjoy a bit of karting, so looking forward to it.

Oh, looking at the "iron man" format; it says there's a 10minute qualifying session then a 50minute race with a break 25mins in.

Sounds confusing - is that 2 separate 25 minute races, I assume?

Anyway, looking forward to it! Unforuntately I don't have the Exige anymore (it went last Monday!) so I'll be coming in coughcough focus cough cough.

See you Sunday

Yeah, when I've done this format before at other places, it's 10 mins "qualifying" to sort your grid position.

Then a 25 min race, finishing position determines start position for race 2.

10 mins break or so, quick drink type thing and out for race 2.

I guess this is pretty standard wherever you go.

We'll see though.

I reckon it'd be more fun to reverse positions for race 2

Hi Tony, welcome to PN mate.

As Dan says it'll be two seperate races.

have you looked at the course and memorised it from the youtube clip i posted on the other thread?

we need to beat these damn Scudrunners.

oh and Tony, you'll soon find out that we dont care too much what you drive, nothing elitist here.
if you like cars and like driving you're a welcome addition.

not to mention that if you want to come to a meet there's bound to be a lift if you dont want to bring your car

See you on sunday
If you're driving a soft top with the roof up, the storm outside better have a name.

I'll be going straight to the venue as I have a coolant leak and a hole in the oil cooler I'll be the one with bottles of water for a passenger and oil in the glove box...

What's this about memorising the track?

(PS. Andy - Hope you get the leaks fixed, I always thought that low hanging oil cooler was asking for trouble)

Default See you shortly

Cerbie is in the garage, so I'll see if the bike starts - 500 miles in the last 2 years, it'll be like learning all over again.

If I'm not there by 11am I'm spread all over the M25.

Poop-Poop!

Default Waiting for the AA

Many thanks Tony for picking me up and dropping me off. I'm now waiting for the AA and wondering if I was robbed.

Cheers all for a top day out. Only had to stop for water three times so a success all round

Apologies for holding up people on track and to Ellie for T-boning her. I gather I wasn't the only one though - it seems to be some sort of PN sport

Photos?

Default Back Now

Back now, apparently you shouldn't jump start bike gel batteries with massive 4x4 ones, hey ho.

Arms starting to feel real heavy now....

Should be ok, ish.

Biggest problem is blowing the rectifier, or so I've been told - I've jump started my bike from cars lots of times before and never had a problem.

Glad you got back ok, enjoy the "champagne"
