This totally took me by surprise when Mrs J. told me the news when i got in from work last night Didn't even realise the poor old boy was under the weather

As said, so many grey two dimensional people in the entertainment industry these days that a Peacock like Mclaren is a missing ingredient.

This hasn't effected me half as much as the loss of Joe Strummer but it is still a very sad loss of a great innovator.

    R.I.P Malc.

Very sad , not everyone could appreciate the punk genre but it was an important part of our diverse pop culture as John Lydon put it "anger is an energy" , give me him over Simon Cowell anyday.

When punk broke I was a teenager and I had a Sunday job in Petticoat Lane market. We sold pub mirrors - those ones with pictures and slogans on. Our stall was packed with very fragile glass.

One weekend a new stall opened nearby. It stocked punk clothes, selling the early bondage trousers, ripped and safety pinned t'shirts etc. We thought nothing of it.

A few weeks later, a gand of Teddy boys turned up and trashed the punk stall. Each and every week after that , these guys turned up to trash the stall and as the weeks went by, more and more punks turned up to defend it.

Imagine being a fifteen year old kid trying frantically to protect a stall full of glass from a mob of punks and Teds.

        That was me that was!
