Oh dear
!
Well as most of you know a bought my nice black MX5 about 5 Months ago, when i went to look at the car it was exactly as described, good condition ran well and pretty good s/h, I decided to go for it as it was excatly what I was looking for, a few weeks later I finally had a chance to get it up on the ramp at a friends work, to my pleasent suprise I was greeted with a relatively freshly undersealed clean looking under underside! 4 days ago I took my car for an MOT expecting all to go well, it failed, at first the guy said just a few little rust spots nothing to worry about, a friend was happy to do the work and all was looking ok! Took it down to his garage today and we started to look at the sills in more detail, some sanding later and to my horror, the whole thing was pretty much filler, with that off we began to discover the bad truth.... the reason it was frehsly undersealed, the guy had bodged it, undersealed it and sold it! He made it worse by trapping water and rust on the sill which has now spread to main chassis, the prognosis is not good, I have an apointment on monday with a local body specialist who is going to take a look and see how bad it is, judging from what I have seen so far I am not hopefull! It looks like it might be more than the car is worth to fix it
The worst part is I am booked on the scotland tour for less than a month away and I have nothing to drive
(I am not taking my dad's saab estate as I just wont be any good)!
All in all really not a good day

. Call him first and discuss though. Posting pictures of the problem may help too.
. No harm in having a chat, may not be as bad as you think and Mr Dreamshack builds whole chassis and space frames for cars so a rotten beam won't be a problem!
