View Full Version : Ultimate Ten-Car Garage
Prompted by Fiona and with the words of Jay Leno in mind: "who wouldn't own all these cars if you could?"
Name your ten car garage. And this is a permanent ten - you will never be able to hire, borrow, or drive another car...
I'm going to have a little think about mine, and hopefully find some pics. :)
yay! my favourite kind of topic!
1. McLaren F1
2. Ariel Atom
3. Audi RS6
4. 1959 Merc 300SL Roadster
5. Ferrari 430 16m (Scuderia Convertible)
6. E46 M3 convertible (actually the one i have)
7. Ferrari 308 GTS
8. Lamborghini Miura
9. McLaren MP4 12C
10. Aston Martin DB5
Hmm, interesting Bachi, you haven't included the 360. Well, if you don't want it ..... ;)
I am also going to give this some thought but there are a few that would def be on there.
1. ASM le Mans
2. Sebring SX - yep the one I have now but with a bit of TLC applied!!
3. Baja Beetle - yep, would keep the Oz rally car too for memories and off road fun
4. Bowler wildcat - for even more off-road fun
5. Ferrari 250 GTO
6.
Gonna have to give the rest some though, I need something super quick, maybe a track car, radical maybe? Ooo and something really vintage Napier or Bentley? Hmm
OK... here we go. Provisionally...
The Poster Cars
1. Porsche Carrera GT
2. Ferrari F40
3. Gallardo Spyder

4. Lotus Esprit V8
5. TVR Tuscan 2S
6. Bowler Wildcat
7. Alpina B12 5.7 (E31 850CSi based: manual)

8. Atom 300
9. MX5. (1.8 Supercharged to 250bhp, caged, low (not slammed), black roof, pure white, black wheels, polished rims. Not that I've thought about this). (And with the option to Retroforza it and paint it BRG once I've actually seen one).
Shopping
10. BMW E60 M5 Touring
There are two problems here. I want a Subaru Impreza P1 somewhere, and I want a 'classic' - but I can't decide which. More thinking to come...

Very very difficult, and i may have to come back and edit this, but...
1. Morgan Aero 8 Series 2 (in Porsche Cobalt Blue)
2. Ferrari F40
3. Lamborghini Murcielago
4. Porsche 996 GT3 mk2 (in Speed Yellow)
5. RUF RCT Evo (ideally Alois Ruf's personal car, a Connaught Green example)
6. Overfinch 570i (Range Rover Classic with a Chevy in it)
7. BMW E34 M5 cabrio (the only one ever made)
8. Audi RS2 estate (in Nogaro blue, of course!)
9. Ferrari 550 Barchetta
10. BMW 135i hatchback (my 130, with the twin-turbo engine transplanted in and a suitable remap)
I think that'll do for now... it's tough to cover forced induction and n/a, six/eight/twelve cylinders, coupé, convertible, hot hatch, saloon, estate, etc.
I'm a fool. I started thinking about garages earlier when we were talking about DSs... I NEED one of those on my list...

4) Nissan Skyline GTR R35
5) Audi S6 (something sensible)
6) BMW M3
7) Ferrari 360 CS
8) Porsche 911 GT3
9) Land Rover Defender
10) Nissan 350z or Honda S2000
Driving a 1.2 corsa i can but dream......
This is my first go with the option to change!
1.Bugatti Veyron!
2.Ferrari F40
3.335d remapped :)! ( but seriously everyone needs a Daily Driver)
4.Porsche Carrera GT
5.Audi R8
6.Lambourghini Murci SV
7.Aston Martin V12 Vantage
8.1969 Mustang Gt500
9.Caterham R500
10.Ferrari 612
Gizmo, I dot have to own the DS I can just look at and not drive my mum's :)
Still mulling this one but have decided there must be one utterly outrageous car in the garage so picked the Zonda. Can I leave a couple of spaces spare for future cars? I don't want to pick 10 cars now and then next year something new comes out that I must have!
1. ASM le Mans
2. Sebring SX - yep the one I have now but with a bit of TLC applied!!
3. Baja Beetle - yep, would keep the Oz rally car too for memories and off road fun
4. Bowler wildcat - for even more off-road fun
5. Ferrari 250 GTO
6. Pagani Zonda
7.
Having stated the 10, I wonder why I haven't managed to bag at least 5 of the below cars
1. Ferrari Dino 246GT
2. Lancia Montecarlo in green
3. Lamborghini Espada
4. Aston Martin DBS 1970
5. BMW M1
6. Lancia Stratos
7. Fiat Dino
8. Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda
9. Renault Alpine GTA
and of course...
10. Ferrari 360 CS
The 360CS was a big one for me to leave out too. But I figured that money no object, the Carrera GT on my list ticks all the same boxes - monstrously fast, pretty basic, immensely noisy. Ideally I'd like a classic cabrio too, for schmoozing and cruising. I might switch the DS to a Chapron Decapotable.
I'd love to find a place for a classic racer too - something like a Lola T70 Coupé, or a 60s Cooper Climax...
This isn't supposed to be easy ;)

Hmm...
1. Aston Martin DBS (no explaining required)
2. Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (gorgeous)
3. Mercedes-McLaren SLR (sounds like a Spitfire)
4. BMW M3 CSL (E46 - just a naughty car)
5. TVR Sagaris (why not?)
6. Blobeye Subaru Impreza WRX STi (with 400bhp!)
7. Peugeot 306 1.4 (gotta be discreet once in a while)
8. Lexus LF-A (or whatever it was on TG today)
9. Ferrari 288 GTO (F40 performance with an A/C and radio. and I've driven one!)
10. Ferrari F355 (no list would be complete without this or a Veyron... and I like the V8 better!)
Christ that actually involved some brainpower. Maybe I'm not as big a petrolhead as I thought.
.....Slowly getting there
1. ASM le Mans
7. 1938 Delage Cabriolet or something with similar Cruella De Ville type styling :D
8. Rinspeed Squba
9.
10.
I'll get there eventually, these things can't be rushed ;)
This is really difficult. I was mulling between Aston 177 and F430 Spider. The 430 won because a-you can take the roof off and b-modern Aston's are designed for tall people, I struggle to reach the pedals or see over the dash :(
1. ASM le Mans
7. 1938 Delage Cabriolet or something with similar Cruella De Ville type styling :D
8. Rinspeed Squba
9. Ferrari 430 Spider (in black)
10.
Shit! 1 more to go and soo many to choose from

1. Ford Escort RS Cosworth ...... well, what did you expect ;)
2. Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth ( in black)
3. Ferrari F40
4. Porshe GT3-RS
5. Datsun 240z
6. Audi RS4 Avant (almost sensible-but not quite)
7. Veyron
8. BMW M3 CSL
9. TVR Sagaris
10. Ferrari 288 GTO
Quite a blokey list isn't it :blush5:
........ and just incase anybody is baffled by the Datsun :) They can look like this :)

Right, I think I'm finally there. I really wanted to find space in the garage for an Atom too but I can't decide which I would kick out for it. Will have to make do with passenger rides in Bachi's instead ;)
Ok, I admit there's a little bit of sentimentality and eccentricity creeping into my choices but all good fun I think :D
1. ASM le Mans
2. Sebring SX - yep the one I have now but with a bit of TLC applied!!
3. Baja Beetle - yep, would keep the Oz rally car too for memories and off road fun
4. Bowler Nemesis - for even more off-road fun
5. Ferrari 250 GTO
6. Pagani Zonda
7. 1938 Delage Cabriolet or something with similar Cruella De Ville type styling :D
8. Rinspeed Squba (I was almost put off by it's eco-ness but it goes underwater :))
9. Ferrari 430 Spider (in black - gotta have something for nipping to the shops ;))
10. Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder
Here's that Delage

Bloody nice though :)
Yep, Cruella indeed.
:D
Changed my mind already. Swapped the Veyron for a Spyker. I know the Veyron is faster but it just doesn't look outrageous enough. :)

But the Spyker is NOT pretty. Mind you, neither is the Veyron.
How about a 300SL Gullwing?

Besides the ferrari's and ASM are there for beauty this is for a bit of lunacy :D
I would agree that the Spyker is much better looking than the Veyron.
one question though.... isn't a bit too similar to the Zonda?
...you could dump the spyjker, have a zonda roadster and put the Atom in there......

Hmm, this is bloody hard. You're right they are a bit similar but I like different design elements in both. I find the Zonda a bit snub nosed but I love the exhausts. To be honest I think I would have to road test both before I could make a definitive decision. Can't I have both and play with your Atom? You can play with my Zonda :D

Spyker versus Zonda? I think the Spyker is too fussy, too many weird holes and creases and things.
Mine will be the one with the carbon tub and the V12 music box please :D
I like weird though, haven't you seen the rest of my list :D
Zonda has a fair bit of weird going on too though.
First time I saw a Spyker I phoned them and asked if I could buy just the steering wheel for the Sebring. The ladies response was "I've never been asked that before. I'll make some enquiries and get back to you" She didn't so I took that as a no :(
This years Spyker seems to have a few less of the shiney bits in the cockpit which does make it look more sophisticated.

I wanna V8 Zed :driving: :D
That one does like to change lanes :hurray:
For me while the Veyron might not be the prettiest or even the fastest (who like the ssc ultimate aero anyway) it is such a marvel of engineering and build skills that I have to own one
Right now it's final, we need pictures :D

its been tough, and its says 10 CAR garage, which means i can have ten cars as well as my motorbikes, so not as harsh as I orignally thought.
10 cars, here we go.
Fabia VRS - I've had 2, and they are great fun on really tight and twisty roads
E60 M5 Touring - well I need something for the dogs, it might as well be something reasonably fast
TVR Sagaris - you need something silly and fun on a list like this
Audi R8 - thats as close to a supercar as I will probably go for
Audi Quattro - you've got to love that 5 pot engine
Lancia Intergrale Evo2 - one of my childhood dream cars, I still go a litlle silly when near one
Lotus Exige - for trackday fun, great for over grip limit handling
Porsche 997 Gen2 GT2 - some for quick trips across europe for a play at the Ring
Bowler Wildcat - something for fun off road
Sapphire Cosworth - another of my childhood dream cars.

Range Rover Supercharged
RR Phantom
This is my list today, but probably it'll change when I next read Evo.
1) Jaguar XFR (the every day car, I drove a protoype and loved it).
2) VXR8 Bathurst S edition (silly tyre smoker, for when I think shell has too much petrol in stock, did a day of passenger rides in one and refueled 5 times!!)
3) Bugatti Veyron Gransport, (nobody will ever be able to develop a car with the no cost is too much attitude again I fear)
4) B Engineering Edonis (for it's squashed beetle styling and its barking mad light switch power delivery)
5) Mclaren F1 GTR (racer converted to road car, Ive seen a couple of them)
6) Ferrari F40 ( non cat, non active version please)
7) Ferrari 250 LM (an engine noise on overrun that makes you tingle, and they were all RHD for better weight distribution, that's attention to detail)
8) Lamborghini Miura SV (preferably in that shocking kermit green on acid colour)
9) Aston Martin V12 Vantage (mad car from the sensible sports car company)
10) Lancia Delta Integlrale S4 Gr.B ( the 1987 Prototype, sadly banned but with it's twin turbos and single supercharger it would have swept all others aside).
as this is the ten "IN" my garage these few will be hidden away just round the back, ;-}
Morgan Aeromax (the original one not the limited production version).
Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition, (purity of it's RWD and that engine noise)
Porsche 997 GT2 (one of the few cars lately to genuinely shock me with it's sheer grunt, although the GT3 is a better drivers car).
Bowler Nemesis EXR (for when I want to go up someones gravel drive really really fast)
Audi R8 Spyder (for the posing tart in me).

I like that, nearly bought a boat a few years back... but twing Diesel Jet drives,,,,,,,,:boing:
Thats turbo diesel jet drives :D
It was a huge project which I've just about broken even on :( Only got to take it out a couple of times but it really did fly and the jet drives were amazing! Most boats need a lot of space to stop/slow down but in this You can fly towards the shore at full pelt, then drop the jet buckets, giving it immediate full reverse thrust and it stops on it's nose! so much fun! Also no turning circle at all, spins in it's own length! definitely recommend Jet drives. Oh, and 50 knots :D
This is a one off though and the new owner is a James Bond collector based in Australia who's planning on shipping it back there. It's still here on my old mooring at the moment though. I now have a fairline Targa 27, which I took in part-ex. Lovely boat, does about 30 knots. doesn't have quite enough living space though so will probably sell it on in the summer and get something else :)

Only problem with jet drives is that they're not exactly fuel efficient ;)
You could say that. Open it up and the usual 8mpg goes to 1mpg :D Fuel tank cost over 400 pounds to fill !!! That said I had several offers of "take me for a run in it and I'll pay for the fuel"
I have a 37ft Yacht which is going on sale if your interested Fiona?! :)

Crumbs how do you pick only 10 from a hundred plus years of innovation and design? You're such meanies!
1/ Aston V8 Vantage Volante from the '80s, with the optional chest wig and medallion please
2/ Maserati GranSport
3/ Holden Torana A9X
4/ Holden VE SS-V Ute (the maloo's just got too many bits of plastic superglued on, this one's still semi-practical and I'm not going to break bits of it off parking near the kerb)
5/ Ferrari 275 Spyder
6/ BMW E39 M5
7/ Subaru Legacy B4
8/ Aston Martin Rapide
9/ Peugeot 306 GTI-6 (loved my old Mi-16, would have been better in a lighter 6-speed hatch)
10/ Ariel Atom
I'm not really a supercar kind of person, but if I was then I'd switch the M5 for an estate version, drop the B4 and have a Porsche 959.
