July 3rd to 12th - The Classic Tour, Spain/France

As the Le Mans Classic is only held once every two years; We’ve taken advantage of the 2010 event to take you on a trip you’ll never forget.

We’re jumping on a ferry to Spain, exploring the roads through Pamplona and taking in the Pyrenees, Andorra and then back into southern France. You’ll get to drive some of our favourite back roads and have the chance of a rest day or a trip to the famous Millau bridge.

Then we head to Le Mans where our partners at Team Langoustine have reserved chateau camping accommodation specifically for us. We’ve included entry, VIP car parking 5 minutes walk from the circuit entrance and paddock passes whilst the chateau has a bar, swimming pool and restaurant so you’ve everything you need to enjoy the spectacle in comfort. You don’t even need to take a tent as we’ve arranged that for you too! All you need to bring is a sleeping bag.

Of course you’ll have the benefit of two support vehicles, two tour managers, sat-nav files, loan of our powerful walkie talkies, detailed route notes and a driver info pack.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Optional drive from Goodwood Festival of Speed to ferry at Portsmouth

Day 2: On board ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao, including entertainment from the P&O Players.

Day 3: Drive off the boat and into northern Spain, where we cross the country in grand style passing through Pamplona (famous for it's annual bull-running event) and on to our overnight stop at the foothills of the Pyrenees. (270 miles)

Day 4: A brisk drive up into the mountains and through the principality of Andorra, before descending into southern France and heading off to the 2500-year-old walled city of Carcassonne. (195 miles)

Day 5: We traverse southern France on the other side of the Pyrenees now and into the Dordogne region, where we find our hotel (for the next two nights) nestling amongst the vineyards in the hills above the medieval town of Sarlat. (175 miles)

Day 6: An "open" day - you may want to go to the coast, or explore the local vineyards, or visit the volcano at Puy De Dome, or perhaps make the trip to the fabulous Millau Bridge - it's your choice. (mileage optional)

Day 7: Le Mans beckons, so we make best use of the french autoroutes and dash up to the historic town to make the most of the Le Mans Classic race weekend, where we will be spending days 8 & 9 also. (280 miles)

I can highly reccomend Chat d Chanteloup , run by two enthusiastic French brothers into cars , they sometimes run a "vroom vroom" car show on site with all the prestige cars they have staying , the site has it's own swimming pool and fishing lakes , motorsport themed bar and large screen TV on the veranda for race coverage whilst you are not at the circuit , and in July the showers will feel almost warm !

Yes indeed but I would need a more modern (and kickarse) car to go on a run like yours with things like air con and definitely not black vinyl seats in July , maybe when I get my new McLaren :driving:
