I would like to detour into Monaco if possible.
Not sure I can "show off" in my little plastic car from Norfolk, but a drive around would be fun.

:boing::boing: Can we go yet? :boing::boing:

I'm at the point where it's so hard to concentrate at work. I wish it was Friday!

I am trying not to get too excited as I tend to build things up in my head and don`t want an anticlimax.
Have had 2 dreams about the trip and in the second one Jeremy Clarkson was my co-pilot in the Lambo and I had to share a room with him! Weird.

So sharing with Nigel will be a welcome relief then!! :D

In terms of clothing is anything formal required? ie will a shirt and jeans suffice for the evening meals?

I'm at the point where it's so hard to concentrate at work. I wish it was Friday!

I've been like that the WHOLE day...Rather frustrating! I've had the car worked on the whole day outside my office so the trips been staring me in the face the whole time! :boing::boing:

Had to keep reiterating to myself "Must focus! I'm still at work! Must focus!"

I hope jeans and shirt will suffice as i don't really have space for much else...

Oh crumbs...Im gonna have to look smart for once too!?

Pete/Bachi - Whats the score with the hotel? Are we allowed to turn up Friday night for a room or is that not technically part of the package?

02-09-10, 02:16 AM
I shall be in shorts and t-shirt for the entire trip - although i may add a fleece to my "ensemble" should the weather be inclement :)

As for the hotel, quite a few of us have booked in there for the Friday night. If you'd like to do so please use this link:

The tour actually starts on Saturday morning, but you're welcome to join us on Friday night (at your own expense).

See you Friday... or Saturday :)

In the fiery sense? :D

You mean the Ferrari Four Fire Eight?

Did you see that Ferrari are recalling all 458.s as they have discovered they have used the wrong type of glue....i.e. I am assuming a slighty flamable glue.......

Regarding the Sat Nav issue, my very old Tom Tom One has the Itinary option and all you do is go into Load Itinary and then select Day 1 for example then at the end of Day 1 load up Day 2 etc.

Regarding the Monaco question I am guessing that plastic from Norfolk will look just as cool as anything else assuming it has a nice loud exhaust for the tunnel :)

Shorts / Jeans and T-shirts is all I have packed.....oh and lots of clean pants :)

Booked a room at the Mecure for Friday ages ago, the holiday starts Friday night in the bar as far as I am concerned :)

Hardly any clean clothes
Nothing packed
Car filthy
No tom tom files

I will have the Tom Tom files on my Netbook plus a sync cable so you can always do that in the bar Friday night......regarding the filthy car I wouldn't worry, you can always wash it Saturday night in Strasbourg.

I know the feeling. My brakes are still no good on the Chev, so having a new master cylinder fitted tonight, re-bleed.. fingers crossed that solves it. Still gotta fit new headlight, washer pump, and clear the rubbish and oil out of the boot.

Most other stuff nearly done, still got loadsa work to get through though...

Hi everyone :)
What a trip !! :-) I was in the red 360 Modena. I left on Saturday night along with Andy in the Scirocco. We made it to Calais at around 1:30am on Sun morning.. with just one fuel stop. So that was good progress having left Dijon at 9pm. We got a 3am crossing and I was at home in Surrey for around 4:30am on Sunday.

Aldus - what crossing did you make it for ?

I took at look at my pics.. some of them have come out really well.. will post them up shortly.

It was an easy mistake to make after all those miles on the other side of the road and it was only a small roundabout. At least i did in style going sideways. :D

Thanks to the likeminded people whose company I have enjoyed over the 9 days.

Final thanks to Darth for the SatNav Voice :)

concrete v's alloy.........easy win there, one curb too many, took 3 day for new part to arrive from Stuttgart, and 15mins to fit, then a full geo and a bill for just 160 Euro for everything, astounding. Eventually got going Sat afternoon and as the car was handling so well decided to do the Stelvio run anyway then proceeded down the other side into Swiss Alps and valleys, found some pretty amazing empty driving roads for some six hours by which time it was getting dark and turned the compass towards home, arrived Sun morn at Calais just in time for the 10:06am train.
Two things stand out for this trip: Bachi, Pete's and Ben's attention to detail and trully amazing service, particularly Ben's nothing is too much attitude was exemplary.
ADAC's break down service, not only where they the quickest to source new part for vehicle, their whole attitude was just right including offering as many nights hotel until I was completely satisfied with the repair and ready to move on.

I would also like to echo the comments about the trip. The roads were awesome but without the like minded people and great banter it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun. I now have some great memories of driving through the alps.

Pete, Ben and Bachi were great at looking after us and I will certainly be recommending your tours.

Thanks all,

Simon

Just to say thanks for a wonderful trip, and one I've been hoping to do for a few years now..

Thanks to the excellent company, brilliant driving partners, stunning roads and scenery, glorious (mostly) weather and most importantly our amazing hosts and guides in our Alpine adventure Pete, Ben and Bachi without which the whole thing wouldn't have happened..

Hoping to see you all soon again at the Ace or on another trip or run ... :bowtie:

My 1st time driving abroad & it's hard to imagine a better way to start it off...There aren't enough words to convey exactly how awesome this trip was for me.

Suffice to say a big thank you to everyone for making it so memorable...A very big thanks especially to Pete/Bachi & Ben for being absolutely brilliant throughout, without there brilliant organisation, flexible, responsible but still stupidly fun way of doing things, I don't think we would've had half as much fun as we all did.

I may see some of you at the future Ace meets, but regardless, count me in for a few of next years tours guaranteed!

See you all soon!
Umair

PS - I'm already feeling the blues...I half expect to wake up tomorrow with Rab telling me to wake up as I've overslept (again), then hurry up & get down in time for the drivers briefing before another days adventure.

Alas, I'll be heading to work instead. but It was nice being in that bubble for those 9 unforgettable days! Won't forget it in a hurry!

& yes...The panda eyes are still MORE than visible.
