Thanks mate.

I have the license back for now. The first delivery attempt was actually on the 22nd but my gf was not at home and overlooked it somehow, so no complaints about the way the French handled this. I'm more concerned about the issues I have run into with the Dutch authorities. I've had a single small speed ticket with this car in over three years and now the shit has hit the fan.

The videos have lots of camera shake but they are useful after stabilizing in software. It won't be top quality and the rendered vid will be made up of some random shots with no storyline whatsoever.

Nice shots Femme. I'll look at the mother lode another time as I'm busy drinking at the moment :)

Can't post pics myself so for the patient amongst you here's the URL for the iPhone snaps:

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=user&user=63165&op=view_album&album=32308&st=0

Click on the individual pic and then click on it again to see it at about 1024x768...

The photos are in no particular order of course and of seriously varied quality according to the prevailing light. You may find there are a lot of S2000 and cow pics but those are for Nancy :)

If anyone wants a high resolution version then you're out of luck as it's an iPhone - this is as high a resolution as they go :D

P.S. If by some miracle any of these photos are suitable for use on the PN site then go for it guys

I'm using a Sony PWM-EX1. It's 1920x1080 progressive so you have Full HD resolution with square pixels and no interlacing artifacts. The camera was mounted on a monopod. I could have used suction mounts on the outside of the windscreen but that wouldn't have been very practical since you have to re-pump them frequently. Colour grading was done in Magic Bullet Looks.

I use a suction mount inside the windscreen but my mount doesn't need pumping up. I can leave it on for two or three days at a time!!

Wow, nice camera though - that explains a lot :-)

I was using a Delkin Fat Gekko mount (costs under 100 Euros)and is as solid as a rock.... would even be ok at speed on the outside of the car. It's got double suction mounts and like Ollie's doesn't need regular pumping. When i saw your video i was so depressed about the quality of mine. Great work Femme.

So its been a while since we all got back to the U.K, after 9 brilliant days of driving the Apline passes. What a holiday, big thanks to PN (Robin,Harsh and Jim) for making it that way.
So I said I would let those who where intrested know the out come of my little water sking lesson on the Swiss N13 highway, which resulted in my car taking an early bath.

So it took the insurance company 16 days to get the car back to England (Last Monday). and 3 day to have an engineer produce a report.

Out come is myself and Robin where no where near with our estimate of £10 - £15k. The bill is coming in at 50 notes short of £30K OMG!!!! i love my insurance and protected no claims.

Due to extremely large price tag a second engineer has to now verify the estimate. So at a little over 3 week after the event I'm still don't know if my pride and joy will be returned to me all nice and polished, or am I going to get a big cheque.

Will keep you up dated.

I know, there must be a lot more damage than there looks. I have a copy of the estimate. the parts list is three A4 pagers long. Well at least, if it does get re-built it will be in better condition that when I bought it, as everything is going to be new:)

that didn't look like £30k of damage John, but as you say there must be more damage than can be seen. hope you get it back on the road soon.

i'm editing my video in anger now and have produced the first day. i've uploaded a low res version to Youtube at the following link:

i've also produced a short video of the Mille Miglia Museum to show off my poor stills, but once doctored to look old i think it doesn't look too bad... take a look:

Welcome to forum...

16days mine was 11days but came back with the contents of a FreeLanders sump on it but should be back on road tomorrow ready for the Sunday Service

£30K WOW....where is it? Who have quoted? (try Buckingham Coachwork and ask for Steve Woods)

Does that include Vet's Bills as I am sure you had a dog in there?

If it is not returned what do you think will take your fancy?

Hi there

I had it sent to Selby's in Nott's, a porsche approved repair shop. There very good they did some work on my cayman s once, and it was spot on, if a bit expensive. But at least I will know it's been done right when or if I ever get it back.

Nice to here your cars back and repaired, hope weathers good over the weekend so you can enjoy it to the full.

At the moment I'm still waiting for the second engineer to inspect my car. Been told he's there tomorrow (friday). Therefore should know out come mid next week.

Trying not to think about what I will buy if the insuers right it off, as I'm sure it will be repaired. Shame really as I took GAP insurance out when I bought the car, so would get back what I paid for it, 20 months ago, and in the present market that would get me into most brands.:cheers2:

Harsh
20-08-09, 23:38 PM
ooooh decisions decisions!

could you have a chat with them about all the underlying chassis damage....
after all if it took a real whack there's bound to be something they cant see.....

if they have to work on that it might be uneconomical to repair.

Sounds like the Warranty/Insurance companies have taken a hit this month!

Mine was small compared to £30K

BUT...
Power Steering Pump
Aircon Pump/Re Gas
Aux Belt
2 rear springs
£1500

all funded by warranty.

Downside is Service/MOT/4 New Tyres is not....

Well the insurance company messed up again and forgot to book the engineer to do the second report. (Not Happy). Gave them a right %£$*&^*& on the phone, for what good that will do, but I felt better afterwards.

So another weeks gone by with no progress and still no out come. Hopefully I may still have an answer next week.

Had a look at an R8 today mmmm?:(

Hi Guys,

The Cerbera isn't make it back home in the condition that I left it in Switzerland. The day before it was due to be delivered back to me, a recovery lorry in the AA parking area rolled into it. The door was open at the time and hit a steel post and the car was pushed back it a wall. The damage was £9400. Will take several weeks to repair and needs a complete respray.

I'd be guttered if my car came back looking like that. Who transported it, back to the uk? You need to have a word with ITV, they could start a new show Car Transporters From Hell.. There could be a quid or two in it for you.

Any way Hope you get back all nice and shiney.

Finally got a decission from my insurers today, and the GT3 is going to ride again. So hope to see you all on another PN tour. Thinking of starting next year off, with the bridge tour in April, followed by a run up to Scotland.:driving:
