Ah, what dark secrets do I have which everyone doesn't already know? I drive lots of cars wearing a pair of tiger ears, and I take great pleasure in being generally silly.
Oh, and I don't mind the kudos I get from being "that chick in the Ferrari" :)
Harsh, good to met you, Nancy and the other PN'ers at Supercar Sunday.
My dark secret - I like two wheels better than four - unfortunately age and the climate in this country don't mix well, so you'll mostly see me in a tin can.

Good luck with everything Harsh.
Looking forward to working with Petrolhead Nirvana.
Hi All,
Being lazy I've typed a bit less whilst registering some I've dropped the "ale" from the end and am just Dan H.
Current exciting drives / rides are the Honda S2000 and my Yamaha R1.
Less exciting is the diesel Golf GT TDi company wagon.
Wishing you guys the best of luck with this new venture, and as I said Bachi, if there's anything I can do to help please let me know.
Cheers,
Dan :)
p.s. the "Quick Reply" box is not working at the moment.
Ignore my last! The quick reply works once you've clicked the "quick reply to this post" which I'm now trying. . . .

Hi all,
No dark secrets really. I'm Welsh, but that's more of a deviance than a dark secret!
My everyday drive is a 1990 Mazda MX5 Mk.I. I've converted her to LPG and she runs like a dream. So glad I no longer use unleaded! (You probably don't want to know my real fuel costs are 9.5ppm on LPG...?)
I'm off to Germany in the old girl (that's the car!) tomorrow and will be screaming (literally, I imagine) round the Nurnburgring on Monday and Tuesday!
Miles :)

Well well well this is all very exciting, woohoo!
I am James Butterworth, a very mellow and easy going guy with an ever encompassing passion for driving, cars and track days to boot! In more recent years I have been somewhat consumed by the European VW scene with a string of MK2 GTIs, the last being a full blown show and shine contender (D11B GT) which I have taken all over Europe. I have also had two MK4 R32s in the last 12 months, the first standard which I then replaced with a 370bhp supercharged beast.
It is now time for me to grow up a little with my 30th Birthday approaching early next year so I have sold both the show boat and supercharged guzzler to straighten out my finaces in preparation for something more special in the New Year. I am currently very taken by the Exige S, an manual E46 M3 Convertible or in 1st place an E46 M3 CSL if I can possibly stretch to it, so we'll have to see what funds I can get behind me between now and then.
I bought myself a lovely genuine original Atls Grey 3dr 1990 MK2 Golf GTI 8v with low miles (my 6th MK2!) yesterday off an old guy so that I have something familiar to polish and tinker with over the summer without any substantial expense. This is purely to keep me occupied and to stop me from buying my next special car before I am financially ready. :)
You may know me from many a tunnel run or the FB5K meets although I have been mostly riding with Ben-san having sold both my toys. (Previously 'Jimmy B')
Roll on the New Year...
Good luck with the new venture guys and gals. It is a brilliant thing. A movement of people fuelled by a common passion which thanks to you all now has a new place to call home.
James.

One of my fellow "Race? ... What Race" crew aka Tuscan rat pointed me in this direction so here I am.
Live in that strange part of the country called "oop North" and drive a bright red Italian.
What I miss on the Tunnels Runs is made up for on the glorious wide open, empty, scamera fee roads of East and North Yorkshire :)

Hello All
I am Darron aka the Hairy Cornflake
Currently living in Cairo, being driven around in a Daewoo P.O.S. :o, but when back in the UK I drive a TVR Tuscan :D, while Mrs HC has a Jaguar XJR.
Will have to try and get back once in a while to meet up with everyone, kick some tyres and have a beer.

Hey hey.
Ben a.k.a. Ben-san checking in.
As I've said before, I'm honoured to be part of a group of good friends and fellow petrolheads, and delighted at the prospect of some really good fun in the future.
My dark secret is that I drive a turbo-nutter-barge of the fast & furious generation, which I love dearly.
Hope to see you all on the grey stuff soon. :)

Hello.
Dark Secret: I like the smell of old cars and I once had my perfumier (and they say I'm not weird) try to make an eau de cologne that smells like leather car seats. They got pretty close...
Hi everyone

Dirty secret: I can't leave a too nice a car where I live without permanent paranoia, so opted for the fractional ownership route vie ecurie so when you see me in a gallardo it's not really mine :(

Hoping to join in on a long run (not just some london tunnels!) but pressures of going back to uni next year will probably mean the sale of the Venturi... but who knows, something cheap and fun might replace it and leave some spare change!

So, are you trying to enlighten us into the way of the Buddha? :)
Which personally, I am all for, in a rather simplistic way of course, as I'm not sure if too many true Buddahs drive Ferraris!
What are the levels of governance (in easy parlance) ... are they the same as The Twelve Nidānas or totally different?
Feel free to set up a separate thread as I am actually quite interested. Thinking as the Budha would think sometimes avoids a whole load of stress.
If there was such a book as Buddism for dummies or Buddism Made Simple, I think I might buy it!

Burriana - most forums have an auto ranking system whereby there are levels which the admin can set which gives them a different ranking in their profile.
Usually it makes no difference to access rights etc etc.
I think that Bachi is using the four varnas (social orders) of Hinduism which are;
Brahmin - "scholarly community," includes the priests, scholats, law specialists, ministers, and diplomats.
Kshatriya - "high and lower nobility" includes kings, noblemen, soldiers, and administrators.
Vaishya - "mercantile and artisan community" includes merchants, shopkeepers, businessmen and farm owners.
Shudra - "service-providing community" includes mostly manual and farm labourers.
Checking in. Finally can make the July meet, for once I am not working! Look forward to catching up then...

Hello all,
Just following Harsh's orders for new members to say hello!! ;)
My dark secret is that I drive a tdi passat estate day-to-day :o
However I have an ITR for w-end and evening fun and hoonage!:D
Hell of a contrast, with the lovebus being understeer city, and everything finished by 4k revs, while the ITR has zero understeer, and nothing happening below 6k revs!!
Monday mornings back in the lovebus are a bit of a culture shock !!
Anyway, good luck with the venture Harsh, however I'm sure you're not going to need it! I'm sure you already have a long list of volunteers who have offered help if you need it, but please add me anyway. ;)

Hi I'm Richard.
If I tell my my dark secret I would have to kill you all afterwards;) so best not.
However, my light grey secrets are that I still have my unrestricted, pedal clad FS1E from my long lost yoof, the XS250 on which I passed my bike test in 1982 and I drive a volvo.
Nice to see you the other day Harsh; Slow down at the front:D
Hi all, I'm Rob, came here through the facebook group.
My dark secret... I drive a diesel as my daily driver.
My toy however is a 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86, although that doesn't have a engine at the moment, and is work in progress so I can't really attend meets at the moment :(
Be good to meet you all sometime soon though!

Hi, found out about this place through my Dad who apparently attends your Ace Cafe meets in his Black SLK. Anyway, my daily is Fiesta 1.4 which although I find boring is great for everyday uses, and I can't complain, not many 21 year olds can say they have a nearly brand new car.
My toy however is a Mk3 Polo which has just arrived in my posession. I plan to give it a full restoration and eventually fit the Supercharged 1.3 out of a G40. This is definately going to be a long term thing as I'm only a student at the moment so finances are few and far between at the moment.
I'm heavily into all VW's and German cars in general are my thing, especially of the old skool variety. Once I leave college I plan to have a career in motor journalism and will be looking at trying getting some freelance work this Summer. I'd also like to encourage you to visit Retro-Rides.org this is where I spend most of my time and if you take a look on the forum you will see some of the weird and wonderful things i'm into (Car wise lol).

Hello all - just signed up after seeing the forum mentioned on PH and then saw a Fezza stickerd up at Goodwood on Sunday so I thought I would pop along and see what all the fuss was about!!
No dark secrets here (that I would share anyhow)......
Real name is Lee, currently an IT contract whore (after finding myself 'surplus to requirements' at my old company).......
Been a member of PH for years (back to the TVR days) but met surprisingly few people as family has taken up most of my life for the last 9 years - kids are getting bigger and I am getting more time to play now though!! :)
Have a very serious hankering for a Tiv but have to make to with this for the time being;

Morning Lee and welcome to the forum, nice pictures of the barchetta.

if you want to meet a few more of us, we have a monthly meeting at the Ace cafe in London.

Yes, you know me, a girl of few words ;)
I put a couple of pics in the Goodwood thread. I didn't actually take that many there as I was too busy eating breakfast, looking at the Fiat 500's and trying to keep dry! I took more in the garage and it was a bit dark for my phone camera in there. I'll bring a proper camera next time!
Hey Ben!
Aye aye! They've let me in :)
Just got back from Europe, so if you are heading for Stelvio at somepoint in the next few days - make sure its open. We've spent a couple of days in Bormio to discover that there was a landslide on Umbrail, and a landslide on Stelvio on the eastern side (between the top and Trafoi). Not sure how bad the rock slides were but double check before leaving if you are heading that way.

I don't drive anything as wonderful as some of you lucky chaps but I think I can just about stay in your rear view thanks to a few choice mods, 282 bhp and an exhaust tuned for tunnels...This is my play thing.

Come down to the Ace dude.
Hello mate, yes need to get out more and do non MINI stuff for a change, been trying to beat some new records but I think I'm done for this year now on that score... she won't go any faster :D So I'll try and make it down to some of the events on here. Doing another Tunnel Run soon too which I'm looking forward to, it's been too long!
Remember the Little Chef run well, was left to me and the chap in the Seat to brave the snow, made it in the end though.

Felt sorry for that poor guy in the Jag XKR who span off the road in front of me just before the Little Chef. Did he do much damage do you know?
well i saw it a little later on, and the two wheels on the side he hit the barrier were in bits.
other than that i dont recall to much in the way of bodywork issues.
god knows what damage was done underneath though.
felt really bad for him, he was a nice chap and really didnt expect that.
I remember Nancy getting out of the ferrari with a big smile on her face simply because she'd managed to negotiate it through the snow and into the car park without any mishap.
very proud of her!

please say you're bringing one of those down on sunday?

Ouchy! He was following the NSX and I was following him, we weren't doing more than 40 mph I don't think and he went from a perfectly straight line to a tank slapper to the verge in seconds. Thought he might hit the central barrier at one stage which would have been much more expensive I suppose.
I was shocked that some of the Fezza's and TVR's etc managed to keep it together as I was struggling for grip in a FWD so dread to think what theirs was like.
Indeed, as i said, Nancy was rather pleased with herself,
she made me drive it home though!

Hello everyone!!
My name is Paulo, I stumbled across this site via PH, always good to have more sites preventing me from doing anything constructive at work!!!
Peugeot 205 gti's became my first driving passion/obcesssion, until last year I decided to grow up and scratch the "TVR itch" and bought myself a Chimaera.
I suppose my dark secret is I have to smoke about in a Rover 620 diesel Mon-Fri to accomadate my TVR toy!!
Hope to see some of you at the Ace meets on Mondays...
Cheers,

Hopefully see's you Monday. Unfortunately as luck would have it I am encountering one or two little gremlins with the Tiv but hopefully have sorted for Monday..

Hey Guys!
This is a great initiative, been looking for something like this.
I'm from the Netherlands and go by the unpronounceable name of Gijs. Like most of you guys I enjoy driving (no!! really?) and I've been looking for great road trips around the world with fellow driving enthousiasts.
I've actually had this idea about planning a fundraising trip from Geneva to North Cape in Norway, but I need a bigger group to support the idea and work things out.
I'm a partner in a very ambitious but serious and hardworking company that develops software for broadcasters and television producers. We had all hoped to be rich by now but it seems we need some more time. Things are looking good though!
So right now I'm driving the company Fiat Punto with creaky suspension, and pondering which car to get once the punto is dead and my wallet is a bit ticker again.
Something that drives really well but can also take a bunch of people and suitcases to the airport, for example...
Suggestions?
Hi there Gijs, welcome to Petrolhead Nirvana :)
We actually have a number of friends in Holland already, who regularly come over to run with us in the U.K.
I'm not sure where in the Netherlands you are but i'm sure we can put you in touch.
i like your trip idea, sounds like a lot of fun. as for your car quandry my first thought is a subaru impreza wagon...5 doors, lots of space, reliable and above all fast and lots of fun to drive!

Well I suppose I should really introduce myself even though I'm sure that many of you will know me.:)
About 5 years ago I bought myself an old Audi coupe for day to day driving. I loved it but unfortunately it lacked any real power or 'feel' so I decided to buy myself an S2 which is my pride and joy (even though it always seems to be covered in muck for all the meets) and I know use the old coupe for day to day driving.
Oh and I make most of the meets but I'm normally queitly wandering around in the background in my own little world. :D

Spoke to the Wife and Said it would be nice to see and support Uncle Harsh at the ACE CAFE - "tried to phone them up in advance checking if it was child friendly" - never been there before - so was a tad hesitant.
Got there and the whole place was Full - the Nice chap at the Gates said someone is coming out and then Proceeded to help park the car up in a very tight parking lot full of real fantastic variety of cars.
My car probably has the worst turning circle on the Planet , Uncle Harsh Turned up and started to help also - I never reversed the Car before tonite .
Having Parked up, people were so approachable and Kids loved it - Met some Work Collegues with amazing Cars big thumbs up to you guys and thanks for sharing such amazing cars!
Never got the chance to check out the 355 sounds but it looked amazing as did the Mighty Lambos, and Ferrari's.
But I was amazed at the TVR's always loved these cars but never ever got close to them So fantastic!
Child Friendly - how wrong I was met some really friendly people, the bikers and all the enthusiasts - pity it started to get dark early
But thanks to all we spoke to and sorry for the kids running around - they are well trained they never actually touched ONE car apart from mine.
Thanks to all for making us feel so welcome and to Petrolhead Nirvana for all the effort this takes!
Special thanks to Bruce - for little little Zeeshan to sit on his Bike and rev (a little).

I was at the Ace Cafe last Monday and decided to register to get updates for future meets. I like to attend to see the metal, but don't do the drive-outs afterwards! I live in Cambridge but visit the London area every couple of weeks.
Welcome to Petrolhead Nirvana Mr Schumacher.
the Ace nights are actually all about getting to know people.
'putting a face to the username' if you will.
I hope you enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere?
We do organise trips, tours and events but these are seperate from the ace nights as the emphasis there is on conversation.
Thats not to say that people dont organise their own impromptu drives afterwards and who am i to disuade them? :)
I dont know what you drive (nor does it really matter) but come and say hello next month (8th September)
Mr Schumacher

Hi Harsh, I did spot you standing next to your Atom, if I wasn't too fussy about wearing a lid, I would consider buying one. I understand that Ariel now can fit a screen to one.
I have updated my profile with my car details now, I currently own a 2003 360 Modena and a 430 Scud may be on the way next year if I can find one at list or lower, I don't do the premiums thing, especially what with the current market! I have a flat in London where the tenants should be moving out in February or March. I'm undecided whether to sell up and buy a smaller flat and Scud, or just to buy a house instead. The property is for my pension, but I want to have a bit more fun before I retire!
I've noticed you have posted in Club Scuderia before, I believe you have a 360 Spider.
I'll be around in September, I'll make a note in my diary for the 8th. Who was the *being polite* coloured guy with the bike which was popping and flaming on over-run.......that was mental!
BTW - What is this "Shudra" title?

Hey Gaz... how did you find your way here old chap? :)
I was bullied into joining Facebook last week, Harsh found me there and referred me here.
Supe has to go because my sons seat doesn't fit in it so it'll be replaced briefly by an M3 evo and assuming it doesn't kill me through relentless boredom then that will be replaced by something more interesting next year.

Excellent - welcome to our little corner of the tinternet :)
Hey, when I picked up my Supe, it had a baby seat in the back (cripes - what was she thinking?!), but of course, that was when they could be front facing. How 'bout bringing it down for a sendoff at the Ace on Monday night?
I contacted Toyota about seats but they don't make one so tried all the distributors here and in the states but none supply seats for them. Oh well, time for a change anyway.
I can't make the Ace as I am working on Monday night but thankyou anyway.

Yes. I'm sorry - I've another dark secret I'm afraid.

Just popping in to say hi..
I was at Ace Cafe last night and I must admit I really enjoyed myself, its a nice change going to a meet where there are all different types of cars. The delorean made my day!
Me? well I used to drive Hondas.. first a CTR then a JDM DC2. Currently have a Mitsi Evo which is good fun.. I'm quite keen on trackdays and have been on a European drive with other like minded Honda enthusiasts in the past, great fun! Misses has recently bought a 330CD as we need a bit of economy in our household! lol
Anyway thats all for now, but I will be using this forum and coming to the next Ace meet!!

Story goes like this....making friends too FAST, sending out too many invites for "Driving Nirvana" around the world..., helping other groups with invites, etc etc....got me banned from FB. But thanks to all of my Petrolhead friends I got reinstated :grouphug:
I have to be a little SLOWER on FB and be real good. Hope the moderator on this forum will treat me nice and not be Harsh !!!
Hello Harsh, thanks for the friendly invite! I promise to be good here and bring lots of friends to this site & great news from across the pond! BTW, I am in Northern Cali!

Very busy and there is plenty of ugliness going on.
Not much in terms of real effect but certainly has had a mental impact on many..

No that was someone else. SB57 is a local recruit ;)

You are spot on, it is the intensity that is really wearing everyone down. Everything is under pressure right now and because of it, we have no room for any mistakes.
Mistakes.........they scare everyone right now,
because of the volatility even a tiny error can cost a lot.
everything is being checked 3 times by the senior guys and then by the traineees.
the fear when the back office call up and ask for someone is palpable.
Having said that of course, the upside to the higher volatility is an increase in margins so some of the numbers are amazing.
it isn't all doom and gloom, just noone wants to count their chickens!
i've started a new thread on this here....

Hi All,
Hoping to make tonight my first trip to a petrolhead meet at the ACE!
My first car was an Alfa 33 Veloce cloverleaf and I haven't looked back on my petrolhead mission since, owning more Alfas, a mini cooper, ex-army lightweight Landrover and my current ride for the last 3 years, an 1985 non-sport Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera.

I was a member of the porsche club but didn't enjoy that much but love the classic nights and other nights (including porsche night) at the Ace and looking forward to seeing and meeting you and your cars. My other passion is shooting cars so feel free to check out my photos here:

Hi Harsh,
Will do and definitely my resolution this winter to get out much more whatever the weather as previous years I've left it packed up and it and causes more trouble when you finally get it out again than braving a spot of rain every now and again does.
Hi all, don't think I posted on here already?
Another cross breed from S2KUK, the Honda S2000 owners club forums.
I know a couple of you already, myself and the wife are also on the MBV09 tour next year which we're looking forward too very much.
Working away makes cafe visits near impossible, but please say hi to the guy with the goatee and the Silver 06 S2000.

Hi Steve,
welcome to PN,
you've already worked out why we're here and how we work,
We like to think we're different from most other clubs for the simple reason that there are no cliques or ego's allowed.
it's a friendly informal place to chat and enjoy all things petrolheady (i sometimes make new words up just for the hell of it)

That's because if anyone sees a banker looking happy, they'll probably get out the shotgun.
If I were a banker, I think I'd pretend to be a traffic warden for the next couple of years...
so you saw the ticket i put on your car then?
The roots of this whole mess can be traced back to Jimmy Carter lowering morgage lending standards for low income borrowers.

Hi to Harsh and you all,
some may know me from PH and Sporting Bears,
for those that don't - I'm quite tall, slim with very dark hair and am extremely knowledgable and interesting to talk to :smilielol5:

Hey Nigel, welcome to our Petrolhead Haven!
you'll find a fairly friendly bunch of people around here...just watch out for Marcellus and Harry_430 :smilielol5:

My names Jonathan and I have two Alfa Spiders - a 1976 Veloce 2000 and a Brera Spider 2.4 *whispers quietly* diesel
May have met some of you on some of the PH runs and the Goodwood breakfast meets and will be at the Ace meet in december :) hopefully in the Veloce as it's feeling a bit neglected.

Hi!
Some of you may recognise me from Pistonheads.
Obviously I'm a car enthusiast, why else would I be here. As I only drive a snotty little hatchback I tend to film the PH events instead.
I'm looking to buy a Suzuki Swift Sport which should be a little quicker than my current car. Being 19 (on Saturday) and a male means insurance is a bugger!

Welcome along John, I believe we met on the run over to soft top sunday breakfast club in the rain. I was in the quiet green Chimaera.
Welcome identti,
Insurance is always a bugger when you are young (24 here with a lovely array of prizes on my license/insurance history) I blame PHers for showing me the 'cherished' insurance policies that Hagerty offer. Now have a TVR and looking to get myself a 355 Spider in the not too distant future (I blame Cactussed ENTIRELY, oh and Harsh for egging me on).
Warm hatches can be great fun and those Swifts are lovely cars. But if you can justify 2 cars when you reach 21 I thoroughly recommend getting a cheap to run snotter and then something a little exciting on a cherished policy through Hagerty. (£340pa on a 96 Chimaera when I was 23)

So you keep saying. And i've found what appears to be a lovely '99 TDF spider with a proper gearbox which I'm trying to build up the courage to go and look at.
what you really need is someone to do an inspection on it.
i would recommend someone like grimaldi engineering

thats fine, i didnt want to irritate people with my first post or introduction post being in the wrong place lol.
Well i saw the secret meet video on youtube and though i'd give this place a wee look and see.
I'm quite a petrolhead, i love fast, powerful and well handling cars, but can't afford or insure one (without 5 mortgages) but for the time being, i have my motorbike, a suzuki Sv650s, had her for about a year and a half and put just over 11k miles on her.
I'm a photographer by trade, and shoot anything from weddings to cars and to landscapes, helps to pay for the dirty habit i have called "V-power"
Ohh and i live in the country with some of the best roads in europe, Scotland!!
so any time you lot come visiting, just let me know and i'll probably be up for a run.
that a good enough introduction? now to fill in my profile.
Adam
Welcome Adam, firstly, dont worry about putting posts in the wrong place or annoying anyone.
we're pretty relaxed about stuff over here.
newbies are greeted and treated the same way as regulars.
funny you should mention scotland actually, we're planning to come up there for a run some time next year.
where about are you?
we're doing our research at the moment so if you know some decent roads and what we should avoid we'd be very grateful

I'm in glasgow, but spend quite a lot of time in the highlands (cough best roads Cough)
best advice is stay near the west coast, some brilliant stuff that side,
I'd say come to glasgow, either as a stop or a night out, then drive north from there, as you will get the A82(rollercoaster, insane but fun, will try to post up a video shot from inside my workhorse (vw polo) on a way to a shoot up in the highlands) then from there i'd advise to follow it up towards Skye (still a82) then from there go over towards applecross, then from there up towards ullapool, then you can go further, but coming back down you will encounter this road,
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/Rascalkyle/Road.jpg (stolen off another forum)
easy to be into tripple figures on that road.
i can try and find the road numbers to help your planning if need be.
Adam
thats great Adam, thanks a lot,
one of the team will no doubt be in touch to pick your brains further a bit nearer the time!

Hi all
just introducing myself , I am a long time 1960s Ford fanatic but love fast cars generally , I have done the LeMans trip twice and still yearn for more (those Lambo engine noises !) I first met Harsh and the guys at a show on my doorstep , a real genuine friendly bunch and look forward to more meets soon , I may even bring along the wifes Toymotor - Celica gen 5 cabrio , just a fun little motor , almost a modern Capri in some respects , similar shape , seating arrangements and the Mother in Law hates getting into it as she complains its too low ! ring any bells ?
Hi Rob, welcome to PN, i'm hoping to see one of your cars (particularly the cortina!) at an Ace meet...
i agree the celica is a modern capri....i still want to get another unmolested St185 GT4 Carlos Sainz
but thats another story
anyway, have a look around and make yourself at home :)

Hi there,
Graeme here, wandering around the North Yorkshire moors delivering things (I see there's already a picture of the A169 in this thread, I drive that road every day for work!)
PN was mentioned to me by my friend from back home down south, Ollie (jumplead on here). Currently looking at Le Mans 2009, hoping to be able to join the forum trip as it should be a bit more interesting (and organised!) than our last voyage, when neither Ollie nor I brought a map! Hopefully by the fateful voyage in June I will be driving something better than my Séat Toledo too.
Hi Graeme, welcome on board.
As Ollie will tell you it's not what you drive, its the attitude you have that makes you a part of PN.
One of our guys may well be heading up your way next weekend to do a bit of research, so if you don't mind I may put him in touch with you to get some local knowledge!

Edit - Ollie, I can only drive in circles down the same roads!
Thanks Graeme...
