Hi, I'm Samantha or Sam...
Some of you should (at your own peril) already know me. I'm also known as lupobabe on some other forums (old name).
I own an Audi S3 8P - this has a pipercross induction kit (only one to date) and will soon be remapped by Shark Performance... and a Mk2 Polo (Breadvan edition)
ermmmm what else... I'm a total nutter as Mister B will probably confirm...
I work in the Motorsport Industry and live near Newport Pagnell...

No, I'm in London. This has got a little confusing as Andrews original post said he followed Fiona on the A5, now it says Sam.....or maybe he's stalking both of us ;)
Last time I was in MK was early last year I think, when I picked some tyres up from Jumplead but I was in my Sera (still only manged to fit 3 in)
3!! blimey... maybe he is... i'm going to have to watch my back, luckily s3 is hybernating and he won't recognise me in my run around :D
haha, the sera is my run around no one notices it till I open the doors then they do a double take :)
hahaha... mines an old mk2 polo ;) 1litre...

pistonheads soiree at nissan earlier this year
we were both on our way to meet oggs and co near dunstable
a5 southbound, you in the white s3, i bumped into you in a grey lambo ( "big grey audi" )
( sorry, my earlier reference to "fiona" was as a result of trying to answer two people in one post, i now know my limitations )
there was one of those in our convoy on the Mongol Rally too. It was a death trap! Got a hole in the fuel tank so wound up with a Jerry can, gravity feed from the roof rack. Would have been a lot safer if the lad driving it weren't a heavy smoker!
My other cars are Sebring SX "K17LER 0r Killer" and a Baja Beetle (the love child of a Beetle and landrover) Known as "Pedro" with the very approriate reg of TOR
Oh yes, hello! that would be me... *bangs head on desk*
Ahhh i need to come out and play again, with less newly surfaced roads though, especially after my remap :)

Hello chaps,
My name is Mark, I am an engineer, based on the south coast, mad about anything with two, three, or four wheels, and an engine! Special areas of interest, classics - sports, Grand Touring and rods.
I scrape a living building, restoring and modifying all manner of vehicles, and to be honest I think I derive more pleasure from the long slow dance that is the creative process of building a one off, than I do driving them.
And I love driving them...

Here are a few pics of the Pelland shell... It is not getting built until I find the right engine. Originally built with beetle eng and box (turned around to mid engine), then later versions went alfa flat 4.
I did think about a Scooby lump, but then I remembered I have a soul. I am looking for an aircooled 911 crankase now to base an engine build around.

This finally arrived today, MK 4 Zodiac estate, coachbuilt apparently from a brand new saloon.
It is in for some resto work on the body. The front wings are full of filler and destined for the bin, and we have to fabricate new inner wings, various front end bodywork and make all the trim fit right.
Also uprated front suspension going in to cope with the warmed up engine, and a conversion from auto box (with no reverse, and ratios all wrong for the new torque curve) to type 9 5 speed.
I thought a few of you chaps, like me would remember when big old barges like these were commonplace.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r365/dreamshack/DSCF6750.jpg
Not hugely relevant, but hope it was of a bit of nostalgic interest to some of you.
Cool, it looks very shiney and rust free but I guess that's hiding a lot of filler then. Are the ramps still clear? Got under the Sebring the other day and I really need to get it in the air and underseal it, the powder coating is peeling off and the surface rusts starting :(
Should be down tomorrow, just for the day but will try and swing by.
dreamshack
17-01-10, 19:26 PM
Yep, the main ramp is free, or will be tomorrow when Graham gets his blown up Disco off!
The Zodiac is a LOT less rusty than the Cresta we just finished, we did every panel on that apart from the actual roof, and it took a whole year as you know!
Tuesday onwards you can come down and play with your sebring and underseal gun.
Cool, don't have much time off at the mo but will try and sort out some time soon....I've been putting it off too long, really need to do it while it's still just surface rust!
dreamshack
17-01-10, 19:58 PM
Not the best time of year anyway unless we spend a few days drying it before we seal it.
Might be a plan to dry and rustproof the inside of the chassis too...

Exactly what you have said there is how I have been trying to do things for years... Problem is just as you say you need big bucks - or a big investor - to do it.
There are so many pitfalls for working on other peoples vehicles, but helping people without skills to fulfill their automotive dreams does have it's compensations, especially when you manage to do something special for guys on a budget.
Having said that, I would dearly love to just turn up in the morning and play with no customers to answer to :)
But I can tell you one thing for sure, all the pain, spilled blood, sweat and heartache - and HATE, involved in building or restoring for a client is all made up when you see their face and watch it drive away down the blacktop into the sunset.
Ooops sorry
The new toy = 360 Spider
The name (sorry Fiona :Angel_anim:) = Giles

Hi all, at last, a site and forum clearly designed with me in mind, haha, how has it taken me this long to find you all.
Right, about me, I guess you can work my name out from my user name, I'm based in Kempston near Bedford, workwise I'm about as lucky as I could possibly be, as I'm a Prodriver / Instructor, I've been doing this full time since I quit being a test driver at Millbrook Proving Ground, (I was also the "on limit handling" trainer there).
My own car is a Skoda Octavia vRS MkI, not that flash but I love it all the same, plus I do get to play with some pretty special kit at work.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all, and hopefully soon I won't be away and can get to the Ace to meet you in person.
Take care all.

Hi all, been registered a few weeks but only just noticed this thread (don't get out much) - oddly enough I've known Harsh for oooh... 5 years from work. Was only last year realised that Harsh=Bachi duh!
Currently have a Sport 160 series 1 elise, aside from the track version (sport 190) it was the quickest S1 Elise Lotus made for those that don't know the model. Have previously owned a variety of interesting cars, built two of them myself. In no particular order and from memory A few mini's (the little ones), a Westfield, an RS-Turbo (OK OK), a Barchetta (Fiat, not Ferrari), Metro van with duff gearbox and clutch (surprisngly fun), a rallycross Uno which was squashed by a tank, an engine-less TR7, TVR Grantura (old, small and quite slow), a Dolomite Sprint(ish), E30 M3 Cecotto errrr.... a couple of bikes, a bike-engined Fisher Fury..... errr.... XR2i company car.... errr... that's it - have scraped the bottom of the memory banks now.
I'm a member on various other forums as moospeed or vachevitesse so :wavey: to anyone that already knows me. Can't say I'm that likely to get out on many tours, time and family being the primary restrictions. Once I lose my job and get a divorce I'll be on them all ;)

Remember Ed Cane's obsessive weight reduction plan for his MegaBlade? Stopped short of having a kidney out but only just. 1st bec I'd been in, was a quivering wreck in 30 seconds - went home and ordered the chassis for mine ;)
ok, i admit it, i'm not hardcore enough.
the Atom is just too civilised!
Good job you're verysideways then. verybackwards is not such a good handle. :D
it could catch on though!
Ed with his Rover K series (or Fireblade) geared starter motor for reverse, and his Barnby magnesium wheels with spun alloy split rims.
And the fact he sold his first Westie to buy a lighter one and start from scratch!!
It's a small world ain't it? :D
errrm it's starting to get to the point where Robin isn't the only one who speaks in a different language :(
surely verybackwards would be pete if tried to be verysideways and cooked it?

Pretty sure it was an Impreza starter, bit over the top really. Mine had a similar system ironically built around a fireblade starter - good enough for slight inclines. Was very handy. I remember Simon Neil had an alternative way to a 3 point turn - an F1 style 180 flick ;)

Hi Radar!
Fancy joining us at the Ace Café next Monday evening?
I had indeed planned to come along, I even put my name on the list. Though it seems that somehow it has been dropped from the list in the past few days, not sure how that happened:confused:. However the current weather conditions mean that it will take an eternity to cross London and back, so unfortunately this time I will pass. Good chance for next time though:)

Hmmm, just had a look at the list and Harsh seems to be the culprit for that. I'm sure he didn't mean to, he must have just copy and pasted the list before yours instead of the most up to date one. However if you do manage to brave the weather tonight you could have him suitably punished. :)

Hello everyone!
I'm Ben, a recent graphic design student with a healthy passion for photography. I drive a mean little Ka Sport, 100bhp of fun!
I caught your URL down at the Ace Café last Monday 8th Feb, where I snapped a few shots which I will be posting into the meet's thread (click here) (http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/torque/forumdisplay.php?f=11). Hopefully I'll be back that way with some of you again. Didn't really get the chance to say hi to anyone then though.
My dark secret would probably be that I am in fact Batman, thwarting evil by night and stacking shelves by day (but hopefully not for too long) as I want to stack shelves by night too hah.
Hope I can attend and take pictures of everyone's lovely metal soon. You can have a look at some of my photos and design on my home page (http://www.speardesign.co.uk).
Thanks,
Ben!

Hey Robin - took me a minute or 2 to work out if I knew a @Brahman' from anywhere. I trust all is well?
I'm looking forward to actually getting out on some runs, certainly getting major withdrawal symptoms where tours are concerned. Hopefully (house move pending) I'll be able to do one this year - my eye is on the US trip but that may have to wait until 2011.
Evening all. Have been a long time daily user of Pistonheads being a car nut...
Originally heard about Petrolhead Nirvana from one of the Ferrari meets last year was recommended by a guy who did the European trip with a 575.

Looks like you have some great events going on and a wide range of motors. look forward to meeting some of you soon.

So, thought I would sign up and say hello!
How did I find you lot? Bumped into a damsel in distress in Belgium in a rather nice Baja beetle. Turned out to be Fiona. Although I was no use with the spanners then, the guys I was with helped out and we took he and Rica out in Chimay for the night.
About me - Love cars of all flavours, new or old, and currently have a 1966 Beetle and 1970 Campervan.
Hoping that I will fit in enough - bit scared considering the cars other people have in their stables! (although I am more scared I will get too tempted to get a 3rd car sooner rather than later).

Gingerbob! Hiiii :wavey:
Oh that last picture brings back memories of waking up next to the drag strip with a killer, Zi Zi Coin Coin induced, hangover to find it had already been re-opened as a road.
When Pedro's starter motor packed up at the Channel tunnel Rica and I decided to swing by the European Bug In, which was going on in Belgium that weekend, figuring that would be the best place to find a new one. It was, but I didn't know what sort I needed or how to fit it. Fortunately we met Gingerbob and the rest of the Crazy Canuck Beetle drag racers who immediately invited Pedro into their Pit garage and helped us out :thumb:
They also managed to smooth tensions between Rica and I by helping me explain to her that a starter motor can pack up at any time and it was no ones fault, just one of those things. Personally I thought it was bloody good luck that it happened there, where we had parts and expert help at hand :thumb:
Oooo and bob, you have to bring your car to Dad's Day Out :D

.....and hello Terry too. I was at that meet in killer, good day, when's the next one? :D
Hello Everybody!
I'm KingRichard from PistonHeads, and these forums haven't worked for me in ages.
Then I get an email from Pete saying I'd won a competition. Well. That's just fine and dandy, so it looks like I'll be joining you fine people on a trip in the near future.
Where's the bar? :D

We try to keep the scruffs out ;)
Congratulations :D
What are YOU doing in here then?
Are you doing any trips this year? Like the look of that B.A.S.E tour but need to sort a motor out. My stable is a bit lacking presently. No drop tops and very little in the way of reliability & fun in one package!

Yep, we are going on the Highland Fling :boing:
We were hoping to go on BASE, but it looks like new contracts have got in the way :( Paul definitely has one to start on Monday and I'm awaiting the offer phone call...
Tis great that we will both be working before we hit the point of having to sign on, but tis a pain 'cause we will miss the trip AND the weather is getting so much nicer now :banghead:

Yes, for those who missed it:
We ran a competition for the Autosport Show back in January to win £250 off any tour from our tour calendar this year (subject to availability).
As well as the sign up list from the show, all registered forum members automatically qualified for entry into the prize draw.
Last week a number was picked at random by an independent adjudicator and the name corresponding to that number was:
"DaveG"
Congratulations Dave!
I'm special!!! :D

I wouldn't worry too much. When I did this tour in 2008 we had torrential rain and fog so bad I I lost sight of James Ps Ferrari (fog light on) when it was any more than 20ft in front of me!
Hopefully Scotland will be better..... Which car are you and Paul going in? Will be good to put a face to a name at last as well.
Zippee you old Dog!
Never see you on PH any more :)

I'm not that worried as I'm scared of heights!
I think we are taking the Z4M, but we may take both :boing: I'm looking forward to finally meeting you too!
As an example of the weather (great time though and an awesome trip);

Thanks Peeps,
Hi all,
I have just joined the forum after attending my first Petrolhead Nirvana meet at the Ace Cafe in April. It was by far and away one of the best car meets I have attended and thanks to the guys here who make it all happen.
In terms of myself, I currently own an E60 530D and Mk1 CLK 320 (and my wife an Audi A3 Cab).
Previous to the 530D I had the following (in chrono order):
- E46 M3 Cab
- Mk1 MX5 (R-Limited version with limited slip diff and BBS wheels)
- E46 330i Estate
- Focus RS
- 320i Coupe
- Porsche 924
I am now looking at getting back into sport car ownership, on the hunt for a Porsche 911 (probably 996 Turbo or 993 C2/C2S Manual)
I am looking forward to joining you all on here for some meets.
When I had the Focus RS I participated in anumber of meets with the owners club and thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to doing more of the same :)
I look forward to seeing you all again at Ace this coming Monday !

Welcome!!!!
As well as Pete im sure you will meet plenty of Porshce owners on Monday who will be more than happy to give you any information you want!!!! Happy Hunting!

Hi All..
Thought i would come and say hi. I don't have any funky expensive car. I know NWVT from here from another forum.
I'm Stephen aka Springs. Currently Drive a Peugeot 306 Dimma Cabriolet :) and currently a moderator on pug306.net.
Hope to meet you all some time :)
O GOD YOUV STALKED ME DOWN
alright mate :) welcome and when are you gonna collect the 205 dimma rear quarter panel and bonnet lol.
Hi everyone here!
I am occasionally in the UK, and also spend time in Switzerland and Germany. Enjoy cars for distraction, not for life... You might see me once in a while. Unfortunately, I cannot make the ACE meet as I am usually in the UK on Sat/Sun only.
Tomorrow I hopefully meet some of you at Dunsfold. :leaving:
They'll be plenty of us around.
Come and say hello :)
Morning all, newbie here!
(Wasn't sure where to post this so please move if required :))
My name is Justin, from NE Scotland. Huge petrol head, so I'll hopefully fit in!
Previous car history includes VX220T, Exige, TVR T350, Gallardo.
I then sold the Gallardo to try and be sensible and save for my fastly approaching wedding, and bought a Range Rover Sport. Big mistake, so its currently for sale! The wife to be said I'd be bored within a month and she was right.. Annoyingly. ;)
I've recently ordered something a bit different - Lotus Evora, so fingers crossed I won't get too many teething problems.
Have organised a few runs around NE Scotland, and went over to the Nurburgring 18 months ago with the TVR, but got noise tested and failed! :(
Hopefully will join you all on a run when I get my new toy :boing:
Cheers
Justin

Hi, I'm James
I met Harsh at Dad's day out at Dunsfold both last year and this year and I decided it's about time to get on here and start taking part. Hope to see some of you at Ace cafe next month!
My dark secret is that I actually owned two cars before getting my driving licence - an Alfa 156 and a BMW 1 series coupe, which I still have now. Yes, I only got my licence 2 years ago (aged 29...)

A BIG HELLO FROM SURREY Hello Justin, Great pics, Wheres Scotland?......................................... ............ :D
TVR looks stunning! All awesome pics.
Hi all,
My names Sam and im currently living just outside the lovely town of Guildford Surrey :sshh:
Christ i hate doing these newb posts!!! Where to start im a 22 year old car mentalist, i have owned 70+ cars to date. My last 3 have been... Audi TT QS, BMW e46 M3 vert and currently piloting a TVR Tuscan redrose. I have no real great interests bar cars and the gym, very boring i know lol
I love nothing more than meeting up with fellow car freaks such as myself for a leisurely drive at the weekend (or a sunny evening for that matter)
Hope to meet all of you soon.
Best regards
Sam
Hi Sam,
Welcome along. Not a bad selection of cars for one so young.
Guildford isn't too far for you to make it over to the Ace, June 14th is the next one :)
I'll try and get there, only problem is work and i would'nt want to get there late with no space inside as i cant leave the thing out of my sight, lol sad i know!
I used to be down the Ace alot for various different meets in my cosworth and jap days!
If we know you're coming we'll make sure you have a space.
it's easier if you get there before 7pm though
people tend to come and go too so space becomes available and the marshalls are genius at squeezing us all in!
A BIG HELLO FROM SURREY Hello Justin, Great pics, Wheres Scotland?......................................... ............ :D
Sunny part of the UK ;)
The TVR was probably my favourite so far.. The noise was unbeatable.
I did look into a Sagaris but decided to take the plunge for the Gallardo..
Welcome from a fellow newbie!
70+ car at 22! I thought I was doing well with 14 cars at 23!

Justin, where about in scotland, i know north east, aberdeen or a bit south.
If we know you're coming we'll make sure you have a space.
it's easier if you get there before 7pm though
Thats most kind in that case i will defo put my name down. I hav'nt been to the Ace in years!
I dont finish work till 5.50 so i would think the earliest i could make it would be around 7.30ish.
Thanks again
Thanks all for the kind words, also regarding the cars i've never owned just one car which is why i think i've racked up so many! They serve different needs, either track racing, off roading etc.
Currently the fleet is...
2002 TVR Tuscan redrose (my baby!)
2004 SAAB 9-3 vector sport (the everyday car me and mrs share)
1987 VW Golf GTI (my 1st car which i cant bring myself to ever sell)
2002 Mitusbishi Warrior double cab (which i have converted into an offroader with 35" tyres) I am now selling to build another track car though.
Regards
Sam
