the turquiose is a really stand out colour for me...
i used to have one that colour and also had a grey one.

red or black work as well but either way i fully intend to get another Carlos Sainz at some point.

oh and did someone say Liverpool 4 Man utd 1 ?

ohhh yes!

Nice find - and how cheap! It's just one of those things that only the savvy ones will recognise. I love that sort of thing.

Lovely cars and huge fun to drive. being a Toyota techie, I just love getting my hands on these when they do drop in to have main dealer servicing. Just not often enough for my liking. :(

Oh, and on that other topic near the top 4-1 :hurray::hurray::hurray:

Bachi I had one of these and it was absolutely brilliant.

Mine was the later ST205 model which was 256bhp out of the box with aluminium bonnet and doors I believe. I imported mine in 2001 but it wasn't your usual import rubbish. It was an absolutely immaculate totally original and unmolested example with 44k miles and factory black leather interior which was very rare. Loved every minute of ownership and one of those cars I should have kept really. I did a couple of track days at Goodwood in her and she was just brilliant on track. I whipped past pretty much everything on track that day and had a lot of guys approach me asking what I had done to it. The answer was absolutely nothing...:smilielol5:

They were all expecting huge figures but it was mechanically standard. I just added the wheels, OEM sideskirts, colour coded the OEM spoiler extension blocks and had the JDM limiter removed so she could whizz past 112mph...

Here are some pics...

Oh I miss it now.

I grew up and sold the plate I bought for it pretty quickly and made a tidy profit which is always nice. :)

I was reading in the sun today about utd's collapse when arsenal trailed by 12 points a while back. Lets hope lightning strikes twice! :D

Watch the paint on the red Celicas, they fade badly but can be tidied up with colour wax which will last a week or so, one day you'll come out to see a pink Celica on your driveway with a milk spattered roof, white spoiler and mirrors. Also affects MR2's and Supras.

Harsh
26-03-09, 21:23 PM
it seems the japanese have real trouoble with red, not seen one that lasts at all..
thats why i was thinking Black or the turquoise

Not being a toyota freak i don't know all that much about these celicas, however i do remember a friend mentioning that there are very few Carlos Sainz versions & that they're the only ones with 4wd.. is that fact accurate or just another school boy fable?

Harsh
27-03-09, 12:26 PM
there were only 4000 carlos Sainz made to homologate for the rally scene
only 440 came to the UK so they are rare.

however there was the standard GT4 which also was a turbo 4wd,
had a different intercooler and longer gear ratios so wasn't as good as the CS.

the GT4 variant was available in the St165, the ST185 (+Carlos Sainz) and the later ST205 model with the open headlamps.
all were turbo 4wd

but the CS is the rare one.

Redex R

and we MUST have one in the PN fellowship...soon :coolgleamA:

Indeed. Very hard to get hold of now. They also had different bonnet and front bumpers to the normal GT4 and they were based on the later wide body version of the ST185. ;)

Harsh
24-04-09, 21:23 PM
Decided against it.
it had a few issues which i know i wont have time to sort.

plus in the end i just dont love the colour anymore...
think red or black would have been great.

got my eye out for something else now....but no rush.......

An ST205 like Mr E's would be nice. Doubt he'd sell it though, we will bury him in it I'm sure.
