View Full Version : Confirmed your places? Now for the crossing to France...

Hello people! :D
Following Andy's latest update, we should be confirming all our bookings with Team Langoustine via email by writing to theguys@teamlangoustine.com
What we'd like to do for you now is get a good price on a crossing into France. This will mean getting enough interest to travel together, leaving on Thursday morning and returning on Monday night. This should allow for a day's worth of good driving both ways.
Initially, we have been asking for group quotes to cross from Portsmouth to either St Malo, Cherbourg or Caen. The trouble with those is that the crossings are long, at the wrong time of day or rather expensive (£300+).
This meant we had to look for an alternative port to keep the prices down, and that meant going as far as Boulogne or Calais. Now, as that's Eurotunnel territory, we thought, why not get a price for that instead.
FYI, on ferries, group bookings of more than 10 cars require application in writing for a 'rally' group (silly in our opinion). So, if we can all agree on the dates above, it would be really easy for us to book up something with the Chunnel.
So, are we all up for a Thursday to Monday affair?
UPDATE: We've successfully secured a return to Boulogne for £38 return via LD Lines Ferries. Get your name down! :D

Booooo, Why chunnel over ferry?
LD Lines to Boulogne appears good value.
What sort of price is the chunnel going to be?
Yes i'm up for thursday to monday but i'm not commited yet due to an indecisive graebob :P

Hey Oli - thanks for my first boooo! :D
We're expecting an answer from Eurotunnel soon, as the group request was put in today.
I'll get in touch with LDLines too and see how that pans out.
We've got a group of 15 penciled in for the trip, so hopefully we'll find something everyone can be happy with.

Woohoo!
LD Lines have quoted well for 15 cars (and up to two passengers in each vehicle) for a return to Boulogne.
£38 return! :D
We've paid a deposit to hold the price - so it would be great to have a list of those who want to join us on the same journey / drive. Get your name down quickly, as there are limited places available. If there is enough interest, we may be able to add more places but prices will go up if availability starts to go down.
As mentioned before, the early start on Thursday morning will give us the time to take in some great roads (thanks Blues for your expert suggestions). On the back end, we'll be coming back with David's group on Monday to miss the mass exodus that usually occurs on Sunday (1615 is the only p.m. boat back).
Time for a list! :)

Ben is there any height restrictions on the places? guessing its just 'normal' car so the jeeps will have to stay at home unless we can let some of the air out of the tyres :smash:
Although in saying that if the F150 can get in, then i'm sure the Jeeps won't have too much of a problem

Ah. I'm guessing it's over 6'3"? I'll find out if it changes the price for you once we've got a complete list.

Thanks Ben, I'll let you know if it'll be needed, at the moment we are thinking about taking some smaller cars, but we'll firm up our plans within a week or so.
Don't fancy driving 800 or so miles on some extreme mud tyres. Road noise is deafening over 40mph.

Hi there Ben, just to confirm one of Guy Cain's chaps had to pull out unfortunately due to redundancy. There will now be myself (most likely in the my E30 track project), Guy in his Elise and two other cars. I'll get them to sign up on here and get involved...
Whoop whoop can't wait for Le Mans this year.
