View Full Version : Supercar sunday at the heritage motor centre Gaydon - 28th june 2009

Last year we somehow managed to have the second largest stand at the show.

We also did a fair bit of work for the Sporting bears and i intend to do so again.

It is a supercar show, but the lines on what is a supercar are slightly blurred.
We had a mix of Lamborghini's, Ferraris, the Truck, two Atoms a De-lorean and a few TVR's so it's not too Elitist.

it's a fun day out with Russ Swift performing some serious car control tricks, a sound off to find the loudest car and a best in show award.

Couple that with the fact thats it's held at the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon and it's a pretty good day all round.

We're finalising the numbers for our stand, and can arrange FREE entry for anyone who wants to bring their car down with our group and park on the PN stand.

numbers are limited so please let me know early if you want to come.

the timings for group 2 have changed.

details for the day
we have a total of 24 car passes and 36 entry passes allocated to us.
most have already been allocated but spares will be distributed if there are any no-shows.

we're meeting at the Ace Cafe London (NW10 7UD)
at 7am. we aim to leave between 7.30 and 7.45am

the group is then splitting in two.

First group will go straight to Gaydon to bag the club spaces and pick up tickets. Importantly, this group will also miss most of the traffic.

Group 2 will rendezvous at LHW (HP12 3RS)
Their group is leaving LHW around 8.45 - 9.00 to get to Gaydon at 9.30 - 9.45

Hmmm, Thats the weekend before I leave on the rally.

I think the Sebring would look a little low rent amongst that lot however the Baja would look positively comical......Although, if Mark doesn't do anything with the exhaust I reckon it would qualify for loudest car!

I would love to bring the Baja, just wasn't sure if you'd want an old Beetle in the midst of the line up below! It would certainly attract a lot of attention though, people would come over to look at it just to figure out what the %$*& it was doing there! And yes, I have the car stickered up, signs and info to put in the windscreen. Anyway I want to show you all the bug before I head off and I don't think i'll have it back before next ace night.

Unfortunately this year it clashes with our annual Northants CAMRA beer-bus-weekend-away-tour (1960 single decker Bristol bus used regularly and in show condition)

but OF COURSE the Sporting Bears Dream Rides will be there, amougst others including Harsh and Dave in the ratty Westie V8, with hopefully someone trying to control Dave as I'm not there :)

Harsh, do you know if the land rover 4x4 track next door will be part of the "show"? Thats good fun so if I came to say hi would try it out again.

Will bring my push bike as I dont have a super car yet :-( because im just a poor boy and nobody loves me...!

Cars sick Bachi.I Have a warning light on the dash , it wont idle and when giving it a blast it hesitates a bit between 4 and 7k revs.Kept having to restart it on the run down and back yesterday .Ive had a brief look and there is nothing I can find initially.May be cheap fuel at the last fill up,Im going to refil lwith better stuff and do a run to see if it sorts it; if not it may be a sensor or possibly the cats.I ll tell you latter this week if I can make it.Funny because it was running so well for goodwood after the service.Im sure it is something stupid.

couldn't find you to say goodbye yesterday, was nice catching up with you....was a bit confused about the charity aspect of the event but it was a nice day out anyway.

i think we'll probably be doing the elvetham house event on the 19th july instead of the second one of these now.

Nancy's going to be in the Atom so a long motorway trip isn't really an option. but we'll see you next Sunday

the timing of the second group leaving is slightly late for my liking as from past experience traffic at that time trying to get into the gate at Gaydon is a nightmare. it may be that we vary the time of the second group depending on the feedback we get from the first.

I'm thinking maybe I should leave earlier and meet group 1 closer to Gaydon, or there, because the Baja won't be able to keep up!
Not actually sure what the top speed is but the engine's just been rebuilt (again, Mark wasn't happy first time) so I won't be able to cane it.

What do you think? If you don't pass me on the road then I could wait for you near the entrance?

I will be at Ace around seven. Not sure which group I will go with yet but prob head up via LHW.

Not got aroud to booking tiockets or anything, but I assume I can buy them on the gate.

Looking forwrad to it, should be a cool day.
