just looking at the market at the moment there are some real bargains to be had....

Not quite sports cars, but I was at a Land Rover dealership a couple of days ago, and there was a facelift (not new shape) black Freelander on a 05 plate, for a shade over £5k. I was surprised, as I'd always thought Freelanders were quite desirable, but a quick browse around the web shows this price to be pretty much standard.
Hopefully proper sports cars will drop low enough that I can afford one soon!
you're right.

The larger models are just as bad

slow night on the markets?
i know i saw that the other day...
apparently though, i cant live in a car........just watch me try!
you really have been smitten by Andrews car havn't you?
the blue really does look good on a 355, the only thing i would say though is there have been tales of unruly roof mechanisms on them which is why i went for the safe GTS option for you!

Yes but you can't race your house either... anyway surely that orange beauty is worth having to buy a pony for? Right?
The NEC Sunday was the first time I managed to get up close and personal with both the 355 and the 360. While i didn't get to passenger in the 360, the 355 suited the blue very well and my god the noise, I couldn't do anything but laugh.
I'm buying one, just so i can put a capristo on it and drive it everywhere in 2nd/3rd. The lines of the spider really do it for me. I too looked at the GTS, it seems like a best of both worlds with the wind in your hair but no complicated mechanism which could just be something extra to break, for real roof off fun i'd still have the Tiv.
next time you're down mate we'll take a spin in the 360.
although to be honest, it'll probably just reinforce your love of the 355.
there's a thread on ph about 355 spiders at the moment
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=614166&nmt=355%20spyders
opinion is mixed...
but the important thing is to buy a good one , there's alot of rubbish out there.
its probably worth getting someone like Dion at Elms or maybe the Italia Autosport guys to actually source one for you
failing that get it checked out at a decent indie garage.
i can recommend Roberto at Grimaldi engineering very highly indeed

I've just seen this thread.
I've been too busy checking the classifieds for a bargain.
I have a fair idea what I'd like ..... but I'm honestly waiting to see how low prices will actually go.
Plus I need to tread carefully.
If / when things go quiet business-wise in '09 and potentially people lose their jobs it will not look good (and possibly encourage all sorts of actions against me) if I'm seen in an Aston / Ferrari / etc.
Does that make sense?
Call me a vulture if you like but I doubt if I'm the only one right now.

This is the trouble with these falling prices... I set myself a £15k (£400 per month) budget for some turbo related Japanese drift fun as I'd been longing for a S15 for some time, but it had to be just right. When I found this...
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/781587.htm
it fitted the bill perfectly... but before I turned up on the chaps doorstep for a shifty I wanted to have the funds in place ready to beat him down on price. For someone with a great credit rating I assumed I'd be taking my pick of the 7% or less loan deals... after an hour on moneysupermarket.com I was turned down 9 times! Yet I could spend up to £10k on my AMEX tomorrow if the whim took me.
Now of course I want the car more than ever... truly is a credit crunch.
Bigshow, that really is a very sweet looking car.
i'm not a huge modified car fan normally, but that has been done very well indeed.
subtle on the looks front with all the mods where they count.
liking it.
forget money supermarket, have a chat with Tesco (yes i know) they have some decent rates.

you're not a vulture, or if you are you're in plenty of company.
the plethora of cars available at the moment for silly money makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop.
except of course that i've been told in the strongest terms that i already have too many cars!

Glad someone else thinks so too, I fell in love the moment I saw it... It's very subtle and I like it for the same reasons I like Bens Supra, it's just got that something something.
Tried Tesco... computer says no. :(
Decided I'm just going to have to earn it instead and hope it's still around when I've got the cash.

Well for my own financial reasons I made the decision to sell up 6 months ago and am making my next purchase in February as a 30th Birthday present to myself so things are looking good for me ay least.
If you want an idea of the current market, I spoke to my Stepfather yesterday who declared he is going to buy a brand new Range Rover Sport. Having always been a very shrewd man with his money I questioned his motive behind the purchase as he wouldn't normally consider a new car due to the depreciation. He said "Well James, I've just turned 60 and have worked hard all my life so think if I buy one of these now that it will see me through". Fair enough I thought. He then continued to tell me that there is a dealer offering BUY ONE GET ONE FREE on new Range Rover Sports and a guy in his office wants one so they're going halves.
Job done!
Feck me, anyone else want one? :D
thats an incredible deal! 50% off...what are they retail then?

Not too sure of the specifics Bachi but I'll find out some more this weekend. I guess that it may only apply to current dealer stock as opposed to new orders but still it's an amazing deal!
James.
did you hear any more about that deal James?
Cars and houses are now looking exceptionally good value.
however, it looks like they'll come down further early next year. so the longer you wait the better the deals.
the slight concern in the back of my mind is will there be anyone left to make new cars next year?
Hmmm the 550 looks extremely tempting.I just wish it has 4 seats....ah who cares 2 is enough.
there's always the 456..........
