View Full Version : Whats the point?

A not very well known fact is that most mass produced performance cars come out of the factory with 'safe' suspension settings.

What is even less well known is that some cars come out with their settings all over the place!

Look at it this way, a car on a production line is given just a few minutes at each station. This is not even remotely enough time to adjust and hone the car to give it optimum handling. add to that the fact that a newly built car will not have had time to 'settle' on its bushes and other components and you may be left wondering what the fuss is all about when you drive it.

Older cars obviously suffer from degradation of components over time. The worst part about that is that you don't notice the gradual deterioration and may just fall out of love with the car.

All for the sake of a few worn bushes or settings.

So, who do you get to look at your car? A main dealer? ...hmmm I think not.

Kwik Fit...or those other fast fit tyre places who offer such a service? ...eeerm no.

So how about a suspension and chassis tuning specialist? This rare breed does actually exist, and the whole reason for this forum is because I've managed to get one of the best and most highly regarded in the U.K. to become one of our forum experts.

Chris at Center Gravity will be joining us to chat and pass on some of his knowledge.

We will also be arranging some meets where Chris can look over the cars and get them handling just the way they should...

I have past experience of Chris' services.

It made a great improvement to the feel of my S2000.

Highly recommended :)

I have done a little work on the S2000 with Chris at CG Ltd too.
Had three totally different sets of adjustments out of curiosity and education.
The latest is following my home fitment of KWv3 coilovers and lowering the car amongst other work.
We've arrived at some uncommon, but not radical, settings on the Honda and its an excellent improvement.
Always happy to reccomend the good guys, and Chris is certainly one of them.

He can also corner weight cars, something a lot of the other shops are not geared for.
They also attend track and race prep days with the full mobile tuning shop, significant investment there!

Let us know when and where, it would be nice to 'chew the fat' and share some ideas.

Wow this could be a very beneficial servic/advice for my E30 track project. I've settled on GAZ Coilovers for the job as used by the majority of the field in the PBMWC Championship but I could certainly do with some technical info on best settings for track and camber also as I'm looking to add adjustable camber top mounts also.

When it's ready unfortunately is the answer to this Bachi as struggling to find the time to work on it at the moment. I'll keep you posted but go ahead without me in the meantime...
