i've been exceptionally busy in the last few weeks, and even though my bank are doing rather well, the physical and emotional toll it has taken from both myself and my colleagues is visible.
everyone looks haggard, tired, short tempered and has that haunted look in their eyes.
scared of making errors which have the potential to costs hundreds of thousands, perhpas more, even though the guys have been doing very well, there's no real joy, its just fear of what may yet come.........
whats the real cost of the credit crunch?
Lean Mince Beef has gone up by over £1 in a year. Shocking I tells ya.

Our Global Financial Markets arm is having a very bad time of it at present. First thing to go from the Banks cost base is consultancy when times are hard. Luckily for us other commercial entities and governments are still spending. Quite a stressful time really for everyone, with GFM wondering about job cuts and the other units having to pull up the shortfall on the balance sheets. All in all business as usual for us. We are coming into end of financial year so things are going to be hectic up to Christmas.
On the flip side, with the commodities tumbling its now costing me £15 less a week to commute to work.

Absolutely stuffed us!!
As most of you know this is our 1st year of offering great value ski holidays (www.kandmchalets.co.uk) in a great resort at a great chalet....bookings were looking ok then the meltdown started!!
Lost 2 of our peak weeks bookings as a result.....to put that into context that's close of €20,000 revenue.. .not yet managed to resell the weeks as all enquiries have gone very very quiet and as all operators are in the same boat some of the BIG operators are now making stupid offers (BOGOFS FFS) which there is absolutely no point in us meeting!!
So this year is going to be really tough for us..tougher than a usual business start up!!!
SO if anyone fancies a great winter break please, please, please book ours !!
We have unexpectly decided to move (long story that I'm not going into) and until the end of September overtime was plentiful and could have easily pulled 80 - 90 hour weeks if needed/wanted, and some did. I didn't need the money so just did my required time, now I could do with the cash for moving fees/expenses and have been told that from 1st october there is no O/T due to the crunch hitting advertising revenues very hard.
I can't see it being an easy or quick sale, even at a very low price as people just aren'tlooking to move through choice at the moment. Same with the car, all the keen buyers have pulled out, including that Canadian waste of space for whom I spent much of my free time organising shipping and export, the minute it was time to pay he vanished.
I havent noticed any difference .There again most of our work is public sector. Was mildly interested about where my clients keep their money when Iceland sank.
On another flank, I have noticed alot of very enticing properties coming up in Auction though.Allsops went from 2 pages normally to about 7 in their last catalogue due to what looked like bank repossesions.Guides were set at 1/2 of what they were being advertised by agents last summer!
It hasnt affected me but I feel greatly for many people though.I was stung in the last recession and know how it feels to have to economise. Mortgage or heating?
