Gents,
I am after help again. I am holding the Dream Rides event again this year and the date will be Saturday 11th October 2008. Many of you contributed to a really succesful event last year and I hope you will again this year.
For those that don't know the event was set up in memory of the 5 year old daughter, Molly Biederman, whose parents Emma & Rob are both close personal friends of ours and were an inspiration in the way they coped with Molly's long term illness. Molly suffered from a rare childhood cancer called Wilms Tumor and was the subject of the first programme in Channel 5's series a Child in a Million which was screened last February. Sadly Molly tragically died a few months after the programme was filmed. Those that saw the programme couldn't help but be moved by Molly's bravery and spirit during her illness.
Emma & Rob are setting up a charity, to support those suffering from wilms and childhood cancer in general and for research by Great Ormond Street into these forms of cancer. I will ask Rob in due course to explain more about this and how the money is to be spent.
I hopefully have learnt some lessons from last year, when we shared the venue with another event at the School. This year we will organise the event entirly ourselves in order to try and raise more than the £5,500.00 we raised last year.
The day will have much more than the rides themselves and will have live music; shows, a fun run, bouncy castle and other family freindly games and stalls.
The rides will be limited to two specific sessions with a clear lunchbreak so the drivers can relax, have some lunch and see some of the rest of the event.
We will be aiming, as before, to bring some cancer suffering children, from Great Ormond Street, to the event in order to offer them free rides and show them our support.
This event is not restricted to Ferraris - all exotic, interesting and classic cars are welcome - and hopefully more than one Aston so that poor Graham gets a break this time (assuming he can make it)!
Please put the date in your diaries and start a list below of those that can attend - name and car please.
Many thank to all in anticipation of your support.
