A good friend of mine is an opera singer and she is going for a job.

Well... it's a bit more complex than that.

Her name is Olivia Safe and she has been nominated as one of the finalists in a nationwide search for a soprano to appear on a month-long tour of the UK this November - A Night At The Opera.

Unlike most auditions, to be successful in her aim to get the part, she is relying on a public vote!

Yes, sorry... It's a live television thing and has been integrated into the Alan Tichmarsh Show on ITV1. She really needs your vote - it could make all the difference to her and give her career a major boost!

So, how can you help? Well, it's the usual phone-in voting system.

To vote for Liv, please call 090 16 16 15 02.

Calls from BT landlines cost a measly 35p and you can vote as many times as you like!

NB. Calls from other networks may be higher and from mobiles, considerably more.

Lines close at 6pm on Monday 22nd September, so you've got plenty of time to get those votes in!

Why does she want to win? Well, the winner of the competition will sing alongside tenor Jonathan Ansell, mezzo-soprano Silvia Colloca, baritone Toby Stafford-Allen, and soprano Anna-Clare Monk.

PLEASE tell absolutely everyone you know to vote for Liv (and to get everyone that they know to vote for her, too!). She is stunningly good and won’t let you down.

That number again: 090 16 16 15 02.

She's through to the finals next week!

Many thanks to those of you who voted...

I have no idea how they will be choosing the winner...

I'll keep you posted.
