View Full Version : Petrolhead Nirvana Ball Sat Nov 22nd
We've found a stunning venue in the heart of the Hampshire countryside.
http://www.elvethamhotel.co.uk/about_images.aspx
places are limited to 100 people.
there is accomodation available for everyone if you want to stay over after the ball.
Which you might want to do ;) It's also the closest weekend to my milestone Birthday
we've even got a live band organised!
We had another meeting with the Elvetham hotel at the weekend and have managed to negotiate a further discount. We’ve also managed to get two seperate event rooms so the band and dinner party can co-exist (ie a party room and a chill out room)
The cost of the 3 course meal and live band has now come down to just £67 per person (reduced from £89) The rooms were already discounted by £30 to just £95 per room with breakfast now thrown in.
We have also decided to spice things up a bit by changing the theme from Black tie, to Fancy dress.
The theme is characters from car related films. This means that anyone who still wants to wear black tie can be James bond, anyone in a Ferrari 308 will have to be Magnum and i have a feeling the Blues Brothers may well make an appearance!
The live band will be known to a few of you, let me just say that they were voted O’Neils best party band of the year.

Well I am up for that, and I'm sure Mr Dreamer (i.e. Kelk LOL) would be too - it's one of the few weekends around that time of year we can actually do :)
That'll help convince Mrs Dan then :)

not sure if we'll be able to make this....something happening on the 30th which is taking quite a lot of organising...current plan is that we arrive back in the UK on the 22nd so it could be cutting it a bit fine!!

Well Kelk might have something else onthat weekend so I would go on my own - you don't *have* to be a +1 do you ?
No of course not - you'll be fine with no + 1 :)

mmmm, fancy dress? I was quite looking forward to the whole black tie thing, everyone in posh frocks etc. Great news about the extra room and even cheaper though.
(unlurks)
Sounds great... and great value too!
I'll have to sort out a car before then...
:D
(relurks)
don't worry Ollie, there's still the opportunity to dress up, thats why the theme is relatively loose
People can interpret and manipulate it to suit whatever outfit they want to wear!
i guess you'll be Roger Moore with a bond girl on your arm?

I'm coming to a ball not going to work. Although that is one and the same and it would save me renting anything. ;)

i'm trying to get to grips with booking people in to rooms and stuff...

I'm going to have to duck out of this one now due to work commitments messing me about on dates. My good lady was also finding it hard to get time out of work due to the racing (horse) season being well under way. Hope you all have a blast. I'll catch up with you all at the Ace

Thats a shame, was looking forward to meeting your other half (as was Nancy, especially if she's in the horse world!)
You, we can catch up with anytime :biggrinjester:
How was your trip?

Trip was eventful, my outbound flight was cancelled from Heathrow so missed the connection in Madrid, BA moved me so i flew via Brazil, that flight was then delayed so i missed my connection in Brazil, Sat in Sao Paulo airport for 14 hours waiting for next connection. Then i managed to miss my flight home due to them moving into DST and not being told that. Arriving at the check in desk thinking it was 1h40m to my flight but turns out it was 40mins before and that check in closed 5 minutes previous. Luckily I managed to get a flight home on a different airline via Paris which saw me arrive back 5 hours later than originally planned much to the bemusement of my other half.
The time out there though was very successful, to the point that they are the reason why i'm not likely to be around for the dates of the ball.
Nancy and Bev would be in their elements with the horsey chat I think. Bev works for Robeson/Rothschild at their national hunt race yard.
Without intentionally wanting to take this topic any further away from the original subject. Are you doing Sporting Bear dream rides at the NEC again this year?
the journeys sound like a nightmare! i've had to deal with that sort of stuff from airlines in the past.....grrrrr
at the moment we are planning to do the NEC, which cars we take will rather depend on the weather.
really enjoyed it last year and at Gaydon for the last couple of times.
i actually planned the Ball so it would miss that date...
i'm sure Nancy and Bev will be able to catch up at some point.
do you know when you'll be 100% sure of your travel plans?

Got them through today.
Leaving for Santiago at 18:45 on Saturday 22nd November :cuss:
Returning home the Saturday after.
On the pluss side i also miss my works Christmas bash.
Have a blast ya'll i'll be expecting pictures.
damn thats a shame, no chance they can delay it for 24 hours? :(
pictures, stories you'll have them all....be better if you were there though!

OK... So who is going as what?
Mrs F is thinking Themla and Louise, or Penelope Pitstop, or Deirdre (with metal case - never mind what's in it).
The chaps stuff is pretty straightdforward but the chapesses is a bit more tricky with this theme...
For me it's easy - I'll have just done a trackday on the 22nd, so I'll come reeking of the great aroma of Track (a la Le Mans or Grand Prix).
I'm rather hoping for a daisy duke, or thinking back to the original cannonball run movie, perhaps a Lamborghini Countach?
well, it is my birthday!

well, it is my birthday!
so it is and I would have thought at your age something old and slow would be more appropriate..............driving miss daisy style not daisy duke style!!

pot, meet kettle :p
Is there a postcode for the venue?
Depending on whats what, I may make a late / brief entry to say hello... I can't make the whole night but I hope my presence for half an hour, along with a mineral water, to congratulate the birthday will be ok...
Also contemplating showing up at VW for a little convoy to the hotel, all be it I won't be checking in.

Dizz mate,
"Meeting at The Wheatsheaf car park (Virginia Water, GU25 4QF) between 2:30 and 3:00pm, there will be a convoy to the venue via some of the best roads the area has to offer. See the route at www.petrolheadnirvana.com/ballhoon.html, and download the TomTom file from www.petrolheadnirvana.com/ballhoon.itn"
Hope to see you there!

Thanks, just spoe to Harsh on the phone. Will be at VW
Fab drive today, proper "dusk hoon" which is a real soft spot for me. Properly enjoyed it, and also being local, was a real treat.
Also thoroughly enjoyed the evening, shame I couldn't have made it for the entire thing, but I may as well have done as I only missed an hour of the meal. I phoned scooterman on Tony666's phone (thanks :-) ) to get a quote for someone to drive my car back and put the bike in the boot as I was really enjoying myself, but £70 for 16 miles!!!! I think I owuld rather have got done for drink drive rofl...
Long live the spirit of PN. Top job, well done all...

Diz.....why didn't you leave your car...get a taxi home and then get a lift back in the morning to get your car?
Would have cost you less than £70...
Don't know actually... oh well ;)

Doh! Next time Diz call on one of us for a lift back :)
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the birthday bash. Kudos to all the PN bods for organising the location, meal, hotel and superb company. Fabulous party, fantastic people and a top event. Really enjoyed meeting new faces, apologies to anyone meeting me for the first time :D
Roll on the next event (and the photos from this one) :)
And I have video(s)...! ;) now how much is that worth I wonder ;) *evil laugh*
Top, top, top night...fantastic fun. Good to meet people at long last :)
Roll on the next event, cannot wait..!

Hi Guys & Girls,
Fantastic night, thanks to Bachi, Nancy, Robin & Ben. With an additional extra special thanks to Bachi.
This is probably the first time I've convinced Sam to attend a 'car thing', she loved it and you'll be seeing her again soon.
Where are the pics?
Early night me thinks.

Did anyone spot the passengers of the Silver Octavia as we turned left towards Chobham?
