Benson Families day 2011- Thursday 25th August

For the last few years the MOCGB have supported the Forces family day at RAF Benson. The day consists of static car and plane/helicopter display and air display in the afternoon. A full display by the Red Arrows and The Battle of Britain Memorial flight was part of the attractions last year. We also had the chance for a private behind the scene nose around which was cool.
If anyone would like to come along and support the armed forces and their families and have a car which you think would be of interest for people to look at then post up here or PM me.
Security passes need to be sorted well in advance so the sooner the better really if you are interested.

Edit: In an ideal world the info needs to be submitted by 27th June but I've been told it won't be a problem for a few late comers.......its a good day out, even better if its dry, and completely free for a change!

Most people are probably thinking the same as me, "where?" Fortunately our countries security is such that RAF bases show up on google maps!

Afraid I won't be able to commit to anything till nearer the time though, as I work a lot of weekends and never have my schedule more than a month in advance (sometimes not more than 2 weeks!). So do please keep popping reminders up :thumb:

You would be more than welcome to come along, you could always register for a security pass and if you find nearer the time you can't make it then thats fine. You will defo need a security pass in advance which needs to be sorted by the end of this month if possible.

Oh wouldn't it be nice if I ONLY worked weekends, that I could handle!

My days off tend to be mon, tues(handy for Ace night and pub club) or occassionally tues, weds. Don't know why, I don't often get thursdays off but you never know. Put me down if you like but it's a big question mark, I just can't plan ahead :( I'm hoping work will let me start stock piling my annual leave for my next adventure so using it sparingly ;) I'll mention the date at work though, they might be feeling generous.

Just a quick update.
What started off as a bit of a wet day turned out a lovely sunny day. After coffee and cakes in the mess:thumb: there was plenty of time to look around the various exhibits and sit back and watch the air display. There was a good selection of various planes putting on a display including Tornados & various aerobatic teams. Being mainly a helicopter base there was plenty of helicopter activity going on. Anyway if you have a chance to go its a nice relaxing day out.:thumb:

Thats a shame, I think you may have enjoyed it. The only problem really is having to get advanced passes to get in. They were a bit more stricter on the gate this time. I will post up again next year.
