Bit of a shame full plug
but we do a lot of supercars, my mot staion, is pit based, meaning you dont have to worry about hieght issues like ramps
i also have an mot tester who is reknowned for his knowladge when it comes to performance and import cars
we also do servicing and performance upgrade
along with the normal garage stuff
i also have one of the best 4 wheel blue tooth alignment machines in hertfordshire
which also covers many many performance, import and worldwide cars availlable in the past 30 years
and i dont rip people off like some garages do
we also have a nitrogen machine for filling your tyres
01992 503804 or pm me on here
advice is always given for free too

as to the cosworth , looks like my knees are gonna hurt with all the praying in front of cars im going to be doing

F1's seem to have been a long time favourite for these cars but that's not to say that things don't move on.......... i've started a thread on the Cosworth Forum to see what other experiences people have had with other stuff :)
Will see what responses i get and report back :) so open to ther suggestions............ esprcially as you can only get one lol :D

I'll need some treads for the Camaro too soon. Curently using Toyo T1r's, but maybe looking for something more track orientated
255/40/18 & 295/35/18.. I know these are tricky sizes for choice
Sideways Dave
18-05-11, 19:57 PM
the toyos, are good tyres,
ive just found a tyre called accelera which ive been trying for s seasons now, both on 20" and 17" and some 18"
17 and 20 are coming up trumps
i will have a look tomorrw, i know the camaro comes in about the same pound for pound, and if you drive anything like me, there will work, but the toyos, may just win, its a hard one to say, they work really well on the mustang, but theve only been around for 2 yrs and dont do many sizes as yet
another big name is nito, now i cant by law supply them, but i do have a man in the states that i ship stuff in with and by law you can buy them, and i can fit, i just cant by law supply them to you due to the european "S" marking crap law
so if anyone needs anything from the states let me know, takes about 6 to 8 weeks but the shipping is soooo cheap its worth the wait

335/30 -18 Rear 275/35 Fronts I fancy BF Goodrich G Force tyres? Can you get em, if so How much
Oh, there for that Red Car with Stickers :D

I know about Nittos from all the US guys, but I know they're not E marked, so worried may get flagged up at MOT time, or even worse in accident for insurance purposes...
NT555RII I think it is.. (not the drag radial one).
I've been told it can be cheaper to import
Sideways Dave
19-05-11, 14:34 PM
interesting,
the 255 40 18
acceleras £117 inc vat fitted
DUNLOP SPORTMAX GT 95W £225 fitted
think i would try the acelleras as its cheap enough
cant get the rears , at the moment , no stock ! anything !
335/30R18 PIRELLI CORSA R 102Y left and right ,..... gulp £498 inc per tyre gulp fainted gulp
275/35R18 MCHLN SPORT PS2 or ps3 £298
not much about up here at the moment, these are all from my biggest supplier who covers most of the counrt
but tyre prices and availability goe up and down daily
need to sit down, scared myself with the price of tose tyres
and dont go bf goodcraps
fine in the states, or in hot countries or for burn outs
crap for everything else, do you know on the mustangs i wont even supply goodrich i take them off and have to supply something that will keep the cars on the road as many have been written off due to these tyres
Dave do you do (motor) bike tyres?
spiritof'76

As i should have expected my enquiry about tyres on my car forum has come back quite mixed....... a few in favour of Continental Sport Contacts and someone said it may be worth a look at Falken RSR's........ though i've not heard of them.
Another option to bring costs down and to expand the choice would be to change size to 225/40-18.......... wether i would notice a significant difference with a smaller tyre i'm not sure :o

It's bizarre, they still have a strong following in the states even though their technology hasn't kept up with other manufacturers for years... The yanks are funny about Jap make tyres in their cars ... Their loss :p

Hang on, BF Goodrich are part of the Michelin group! What really hacks me off is why Michelin pilot sport tyres are cheaper in the USA than they are here! I mean there made in Bloody France then shipped to the USA, surely being part of this so called European union we should get these tyres cheaper as there only a stones throw away!

dare i say, a national with the same name as formaula one, actually sells bf crap
sorry its just ive seen new mustangs written off by these horrible tyres,
im sure the devil created them, bit like owning a black car and trying to keep it as a show car even though you drive it every day
oh did i tell you my missis drives a black mustang Gt every day !

biggest problem it seems 18's are being phased out in favour of either 17's or 20's
you know i can buy a set of 20's cheaper than 2 18's
falkerns are ok, soft compound, and dunlop 9000 pattern from memory

Really  that's not good :o
Someone did put 20's on an Escort recently............. i thought it looked ridiculous and by all accounts it drove like a pile of shite
EDIT: Falken RSR was a typo......... i meant to say Federal RSR but not sure on the widom of them as i think they are a semi slick............ would still be interested in a price though as i have two sets of wheels :)

I remember seeing a review in a magazine of trackday tyres, and the Federal RSR came out very close behind way more expensive comparisons like The Yokohama 048. The Kuhmo V70 is supposed to be good too..

Good to hear :)
........ and although a trackday tyre it does say on the link road use aswell........... the tread pattern certainly looks like it could clear water away........ though a little caution may be required ;)

Kuhmo V70a are nice and grippy, wouldnt want to take them out in the wet though. Road legal but deffinately a trackday tyre.

Did you say Nitto's?! A buddy of mine is desperate to try a set, will give him you contact details next time I see him!
Hi Dave, could you quote on the GTR:
255/40 20 Bridgestone runflats x 2
285/35 20 Bridgestone runflats x 2
incl fitting and Nitrogen...
Current 'new' set cost £1,440 incl, but experience tells me they won't last long... :D
Also be interested to know if you can source/price the Dunlop tyres fitted by Nissan?

oh i ment to also say, i do detailing and claybarring, and im a hell of a lot cheaper than most,
i dont do it to make money, i do it because i love to see a car come back to life
many people say it looks better than it did when it comes out the showroom
but i noramlly spend 50 hours on the car, spaced out over at least a week sometimes 2 and you get change from 300 quid too and thats just for a really bad car, thats never been done
i have been known to do under the car as well as the engine bay and the suspension and wheels
let alone the bodywork
i also sell 100% yellow canuaba wax, and proper micro clothes, and if anyone owns a shammy leather, wait till i see you, got a big stick, and will tell you a secret, and you will never use one again, as theres something a lot better out there and better for the paint
SD
Dave, could you price me up 4 Falken FK452's in 205/50 R17

Dave, last Friday I had my 4200 up on the ramps at HR Owen's open day. The mechanic pointed out that my o/s front alloy had been slightly buckled - flattened - on the inside of the rim sometime in the past and it needed to be looked at. (He said replaced. But he would. :) )
Can you get it back in shape?
Dave - any luck with a quote on the GTR tyres?

Dan, don't get the runflats... I just upgraded to 19" wheels and went to normal tyres, the ride and handling is so much better...
I can't afford wheels on top, & I only need 2 tyres at the moment.
Pics of yours with the new wheels please?
