A real shame that. The pace car driver MUST have been told to pull in, otherwise he wouldn't have turned off his lights. So, he had a brain fade moment and so did the guy manning the light gantry who either wsn't watching the track or just didn't see the pace car pass by his position.

What made the perfect storm is the fact that the front straight is 'humped' so that the guys at the back couldn't see the front of the pack, relied on the overhead gantry lights and once they saw them go out, accelerated over the hill expecting the GT1 guys to have gone.

I expect that the pace car driver lost his no claims bonus.
