Plans for this year are to use it (rather than just work on it!) on a few more road trips / track days in both the UK and Europe. Starting with the Nurburgring in April, can't wait to get back there :D

Certainly eyecatching :thumb:.............. did you take some inspiration from the GT3 RS for the wheels :coolgleamA:

Quite an extensive list of mods too................... must have sharpened it up a fair bit

I've never been one to follow trends (or set them for that matter!), it was half dare, half impulse. The wheels needed refurbishment as they had a few marks when I bought the car, I didn't want the normal black, anthracite, silver etc and a friend jested "do them something stupid". This triggered a hair brained plan in my head and 10 minutes later I had a bemused looking wheel painter asking if I was sure I wanted them red. The rest is history :D

Some people have said that it looks like I wanted a Megane R26R, others have said, like you, a GT3. I guess it could be seen as that but it wasn't the original idea that inspired me. The other red bits have grown from it really.

The modifications have livened it up somewhat too aye. A good friend owns a workshop so I can help out with the work, I prefer to get stuck in than pay someone to do it all. It's great fun in the dry, not so much in the wet as I run dry weather tyres. Have only taken it out on 2 track days since having the work done, need to get a bit more familiar with it this year :D

Someone likes to tinker with his car (nothing wrong with that btw), you as I am a lost cause, it will never stop.

Anyhow I notice where your filter is positioned, nothing wrong with that. However your performance will benefit from it being boxed in and having a cold air duck feeding cool air to it. I have seen to many people wondering why they are not getting the performance they expect. Nothing worse than drawing hot air into an engine.

A simple fix.

Keep tinkering .... and enjoy the results.

Sure do, can't help it. If I'm bored I take things apart, if I'm near a car the poor thing never knows what's hit it!

It's the age old debate with the filter, it's in the OEM position, and I agree with you to an extent. The hot air issue could be a problem when pulling away. But there's that much air movement through the engine bay when moving that the heat soak issue from the filter is neglible. Cooling down the air after the intercooler is an issue that can be cured somewhat with a phelonic gasket. The heatshields that are available on the market currently don't really seem to cut it, only real option is a custom airbox, something I'm looking into.

I've been paid today, I can feel some new tyres and shiny bits brewing :p :D

Haha, cheers Roger, will check out the Alpine Tour :)

It was rolling roaded last August at 285bhp and 318lb ft, nice warm workshop and high ambient temperatures :p

It's been... Interesting in this cold weather to say the least

That's right Nick, I remember the age old convo "What you going to do to it Ape?" "Ah nothing, will keep it standard and just enjoy it".... hmmmm, didn't quite work out that way!

We definately need to sort a shoot soon bud :D

Thanks Roger,

I plan to get my name down for a few tours this year :D Nick pointed me in PN's direction :D

You can't go wrong with PN.... there are lots of companies offering tours but for me the most important thing is to go with a very helpful and friendly team that put together tours taking in some of the best driving roads. With PN you'll come back with memories that will last a lifetime and a new group of like minded friends.

I used to run a black one of these - friends called it The Tardis (with its amazing ability to hold gear and fold time).

I still miss it.

Looks good, how do you find the liquid guage? Do you find it of much use?

It's a fantastic gadget really. It gives you the important information you need, oil temperature, Air / Fuel Ratio, fault codes, all sensor information, detonation / timing correction, boost levels (handy for checking leaks). It does have "fun" stuff on there too, i.e 0-60, 0-100, dyno calcs, g-force meter, Throttle Body reset, multigauge, exhaust temps, coolant temps, the list goes on and on. It records peak levels too, not just current readings. It's like having all those fast and the furious gauge pods all up the a-pillar, in one decent little unit :D
