Guys and Gals... anyone hatching any plans for one of this on a balmy summer (mid)night...?

(oops - I might have posted this in the wrong place !)

andrew.
20-03-10, 11:02 AM
are you aware of the secret tunnel run section on ph ?

Fiona
20-03-10, 12:03 PM
I'm aware of it .......just never had an invite :(
So I'd be up for a PN tunnel run, once killers back in action of course!

KO993C4S
20-03-10, 22:17 PM
I never had an invite too... whats the secret handshake...?

Fiona
21-03-10, 00:40 AM
Dunno?? I guess I must not be quick enough or loud enough.......I'll have to work on that!

Ziggy Parker
21-03-10, 19:54 PM
was the secret tunnel run tonight as there were a few nice cars lurking about when we left london

jumplead
22-03-10, 12:52 PM
No, thats just London ;)

Ziggy Parker
22-03-10, 16:16 PM
so how does someone get into the tunnel run club?? I'm very keen to do this as it looks like great fun. The C4s sounds good in tunnels if that helps?

Dan H
22-03-10, 16:24 PM
You have to know the people in the know - or something like that.

verysideways
22-03-10, 16:27 PM
There may or may not be a few people on this site (possibly including ALL of the PN staff!) who are members of this 'secret society' of tunneling mentalists :)

Ziggy Parker
22-03-10, 16:27 PM
does any one know people in the know.Or do i need to start knowing people who know who are in the know or know someone in the know?
I need to know.

scrubberamit
22-03-10, 17:14 PM
dont know

i'm up for a tunnel run, always missed previous ones!!

22-03-10, 17:22 PM
You can hear my C4S a mile away WITHOUT tunnel walls... now, if it was in a tunnel... hmmm.... will await any special invitations to be inducted into the secret society of London Tunnellers... do we have to wear crahs helmets with foglights attached for these sorts of tunnelling activities...??

jumplead
22-03-10, 17:28 PM
Luckily someone has already done the helmet bit for us :)

One thing I will say, no matter how loud you think your car is, there are a few cars that may or may not be in said mentalists that will be so loud you'll still be hearing them a week later :)

KO993C4S
22-03-10, 17:51 PM
I agree - I was merely saying that mine is loud - not necessarily the loudest... still waiting for the invite...

But I know ALL of the PN crew and still haven't managed an invite......pretty please Pete :D

I know Pedro's not suitable but just as soon as I get killer back with his go faster bits and new exhaust I really really want to do one! Besides.....wouldn't a little tunnel run video al la Fiona be nice ;)

KO993C4S
22-03-10, 18:56 PM
(psst) Fiona - dont forget little ole me when you have been accepted by the society of london tunnellers...throw us a few scraps, OK ?

verysideways
22-03-10, 19:11 PM
Hmm, me thinks we need to take the M3/360/S4 on a tunnel run and brings some newbies along... or we could just have our own little PN mini tunnel run.
I know all the routes pretty much blindfold now, having been involved for, errr, seven or eight years?

Harsh
22-03-10, 19:45 PM
i think that sounds like a good plan to me :)

Sounds great but errrmmmm, could I volunteer to drive the M3 for this one then? Pleeeeaase?......unless someone wants to tow Pedro so i can keep up! I really miss Killer! Don't get me wrong I get just as much pleasure from driving Pedro but it's a very different experience, you just can't compare them!

Ziggy Parker
22-03-10, 20:26 PM
well when you guys decide give me a shout....will be up for loudness. I used to be in the Artillery so a bit deaf so need things like this to remind me how loud things get when hell is unleashed.

you befriend an existing tunnel runner
they vouch for you and submit a request to one of the three powers that be ( btw none of whom are on pn )
hth

Ziggy Parker
22-03-10, 22:32 PM
i better start being friendly then!

How you doing?

i like your shallow approach
but maybe i'd better give you a list of runners to befriend ?

How duck houses for your pond...? Do you like Porn Movies? Or can I buy you a Mars Bar...

Boris
22-03-10, 23:11 PM
How about a mini PN tunnel run to make sure everyone gets the idea and learns the rules etc, then those who are initiated and willing could drive us newbie's to swear us in?!

verysideways
23-03-10, 08:32 AM
Let's set a date for a little PN run and i'll put a route together. Start point and end point will be on the itn file (not published for all the world to see, but let's just say:

Starting at 23:30 on a Saturday night at a location along the Thames in central London.
Now, which Saturday?

Dan H
23-03-10, 08:53 AM
Is it worth having the thread in the "secret" restricted forum on here?

That way the regulars on here can be given access to it for the info and anyone who stumbles across this place won't get it :)

verysideways
23-03-10, 09:08 AM
A few people have missed out on a few runs because of the "secret" bit, so i'd rather have the sign up list public so no one misses it, and simply send people the itinerary and start point information :)

Boris
23-03-10, 09:45 AM
sweet! im game for any saturday night! How about the 10th April?!

jumplead
23-03-10, 09:56 AM
Count me in :)

Fiona
23-03-10, 10:35 AM
I'm working till midnight or later every saturday as far as the eye can see on my roster :(

I'm usually working till stupid o'clock and my days off are usually weekdays, but which ones vary. I guess weekdays are no good for a lot of people, I do have good friday off if that's a possible?

Ziggy Parker
23-03-10, 12:34 PM
ohh man, i will still be in Thailand. There until the 22nd.
Go on you kids get out with me, go have some fun...I will just sit her on the porch with some of grandpa's cough medicine.

KO993C4S
23-03-10, 12:58 PM
How about 1 May... its the Bank Holiday weekend !!! So the tunnelling can end quite late for an EARLY Brekkie !!!

verysideways
23-03-10, 13:01 PM
That would be another option, a 5am start ending with brekkie at the Ace perhaps.

Once people have expressed a preference i will set a date and time ;)

Fiona
23-03-10, 13:08 PM
I don't have my roster that far ahead, if it's a bank holiday I will almost certainly be working but as I do late shifts most of the time I could do the usual 2 hours sleep, come out on an early run, then crash out for a few hours before going back to work!

Harsh
23-03-10, 17:48 PM
if we make it an early morning then i know a couple of people that might join in...Stu? ;)

I'm kind of scared off by how weedy mine sounded behind the 430 and the SL55 AMG on the way through Petworth the other day, but this could be a bit of a laugh...

I wouldn't worry, unless I can blag a loaner or killer's back on the road, I'm in a 40 year old veedub with a top speed of 65mph!

23-03-10, 22:25 PM
Ouch Ouch Ouch !.......... Ok, you've twisted my arm, i could be persuaded to tag along for this :D

I have access to the TR forum thingy but i've never got round to actually using it :o which is a bit of a waste really as i pestered somebody for access to it  Just a matter of time though ;)

Boris
23-03-10, 23:00 PM
Whatever, time and day Im there!

Ziggy Parker
24-03-10, 11:32 AM
May would be good for me!

Who needs to be part of a secret tunnel run society when you've got an HD screen, surround sound and a copy of Forza Motorsport 3 on Xbox 360! I'm off to find some tunnels!! :D

Elliott
04-04-10, 21:42 PM
I would really like to do a tunnel run. Please count me in.

Waugh-terfall

Seems there aren't many tunnels on Forza, so a passenger ride through some real ones would be ace, provided someone is willing? :D Fast, loud and tuneful my car isnt. Sluggish, unreliable and a quiet dull 4-banger it is!

TheStoat
06-04-10, 18:33 PM
As a sort of veteran I would say...

(i) Count me in :D
(ii) Not every car on a TR is super loud, some people have been known to turn up in a car just to listen ;)
(iii) Not every car goes through each tunnel at the same time so you don't all get drowned out by the loudest in the pack
(iv) Count me in :D

markskaaa
07-04-10, 12:21 PM
Count me in as well please! :)

Have been on a TR before (as a passenger) and it was great fun.....my ears were ringing for the rest of the day tho :)

07-04-10, 16:32 PM
I've been giving this some more thought.

I don't think it'll catch on... ;)

Sparky

I'm up for this if it is still to occur, assuming the timing doesnt clash with me working.

Harsh
29-04-10, 10:55 AM
right, we're looking at a few dates now, one option is a very early morning run before Dads day out,

another option is a late night midweek option..
does anyone have any preferences?

Boris
29-04-10, 13:47 PM
Weekends would be best for me as some weeks i work from 6am onwards! But if I have to just go to work after I will!

Weekends would be best but evenings are also ok

29-04-10, 22:26 PM
I'm fairly easy going as regards to when......... though if it's the morning of DDO then i'll probably give it a miss as that day will be hectic enough as it is........ in a good way of course :D

MaserMartin
01-05-10, 21:14 PM
I've no preference datewise/timewise, except for 3 weeks from May 15th when I'm back out in Hungary for work again, which by default means I won't be able to make DDO weekend.

sprint355
01-05-10, 21:56 PM
Count me in, unless it is a Wednesday night

Boris
05-05-10, 08:55 AM
Now that a new go louder part for my car is order I cant wait for this :) :)!!!!!! Before Dads Day out could be a good idea, I have to be in london for the highland tour convoy at nine anways so I could do the TR, park somewhere kip in the car for a few hours, grab some brekkie and head off for all things scottish :)!!!!

05-05-10, 11:09 AM

07-05-10, 19:35 PM
Are we still considering the morning before dads day out or not anymore? I am excited!!!!!!

Harsh
07-05-10, 20:11 PM
there's already a (Public) Tunnel run on that day organised by the TVR guys, who just happen to be ending at Dunsfold, however i think that needs to stay a TVR event so it might be best to postpone it to another day when we've got something happening, eg June 6th Supercar Sunday but that will mean a very very early start so that might be a bad plan too.

Ziggy Parker
07-05-10, 21:17 PM
my birthday, good for me

Sparky
08-05-10, 00:44 AM
June 6th works for me as I have to be up at stupid o'clock to go to work for a rather nasty start time for a sunday morning.

Fiona
08-05-10, 01:32 AM
Oh not sure about the 6th, I'm already double booked, a triple booking might be pushing it. Plus I was planning on taking Pedro to supercar sunday as i then have a buggy show in Sussex to head to after. Oh and a 40th birthday party the night before..............

......I don't get many weekends off, might aswell make the most of them ;)

Jeremy
08-05-10, 13:47 PM
Isn't June 6th Goodwood in the morning at least ?

As several of us will be together , why don't we extend it into a TR ?

MaserMartin
08-05-10, 19:19 PM
Oh, 6th doesn't work for me :(

Next time, next time .... (shakes fist)

Boris
02-06-10, 11:48 AM
Are we still planning on doing this on saturday? If its really really early I might be able to make it, if not I am on call from 9AM onwards and need to be with in 15 miles of Winchester by then! My exhaust is blowing anyways so I might have to give it a miss unless I can get it sorted by then!

Boris
06-07-10, 15:38 PM
Are we still planning on having an PhN tunnel run, would be lovely to do it while the nights are still relatively warm?!

Saturday morning could be a good time, it was quieter than Sunday morning on the roads in London this weekend.
