The route and roads that Robin found yesterday were amazing so i think we need to do it again...
preferably when the weather improves,

and maybe split it up into more manageable chunks.

We've also got routes for other areas too so who fancies another hoon soon?

Absolutely......you didn't think that little spin would put me off did you? :D

The HBB run is definately deserving of another shot :D But as you say we won't be able to do it justice until there is a marked improvement in the weather.......... and once the road gangs have had a chance to get out and fill in some of them moon craters

Whats the thinking on the size of these runs......... should they stay small and hush hush and tight knit as they are now or could they grow and become the Hoon of choice for all. PH does seem to be quiet these days on the running front and we now seem to have a route planner to challenge the crown of people like Jaykaybi :D Have to say i'm easy either way........ i like the groups we've had these last couple of times but it's also nice to be out and about with a variety of other machines. Though if the groups get too big we might have trouble getting into some of these pubs :(

........... and i'm all for trying pastures new aswell  i've always fancied the Cheddar Gorge run from PH but always managed to miss it for one reason or another........ maybe we can gatecrash the next one or just have our own version sometime.

Whatever way things go....... i'm in :D............. i guess it's just in the blood :drive:

Dungeness Nuclear Power Station is possibly the oddest place I've ever been to, and that's saying something. The approach road is alongside a pebble beach with little wood houses dotted around and fishing boats pulled up out of the water and then the rather imposing power station at the end of it.

I'd suggest a run out there if Nick fancies a photo shoot, the weather wouldn't even matter as it would make the shots moodier. In fact photos of the cars in that bleak environment, dark storm clouds, pouring rain and a slow shutter speed would look moody as hell :reddevil: Whaddaya reckon Nick?

p.s. fiona when i have the new beasty could we organise a meet up and run of the morestead road near me it is trully epic :) its part of the hampshire ring run. it has hairpins and strieghts and is ust begging to be recorded on camera :)

Sounds like a plan. I'm looking at new camera mounts for the car at the moment which should reduce the shake from Killers suspension (or lack of) or of course I could just stick the camera on a car with a smoother ride!

The meggys susspention will be firm but proberbly shake less than killer could be a good trial run for Viking :)

we'd be up for a re-run of sunday

Definately up for more, sunday was good it definately got better as the day went on. Though with so little rubber I was avoiding the pot holes like the plague (btw thanks bob i was following your tracks for a while and you had the same idea as me!)

How about we say its a periodic thing (say once every 2 weeks?) and as you do with the ace posts just start an empty thread with people signing up and then construct a route based on location of avaliable parties?

When is the next good date that fits with the other events mr bachi?

Im up for another hoon... (go away 6th March for a week though - and car will be elsewhere) oh and also work some weekends so will need to confir with my diary when dates are decided.

as for once every two weeks, that would hurt my bank balance too much, once a month I'd be up for...

*quietly recommends peak district and wales also*

Says Miss 'still got half a tank'

You don't have to go on them all, I know how difficult it is though to miss them. I think i'm going to take Bev out on the route we did on Sunday this weekend :) The wonder of the Sat Nav files means you can do them whenever you want :)

I think the main dependency is on somebody like Robin to lead the pack as I dont think we could do without him up front in the smurf car!

If we do it quite regular and short runs I would imagine they would be repeated so wouldnt make sense to go on all of them but you pick and choose. Thats my idea anyway.

there's a half decent run that goes out to Aldeburgh (essex coast) to a very popular fish & chip shop on the sea front. Usually a cue round the corner at lunch time, but worth the wait, good for sunday mornings sitting on beach (when it's a bit warmer) feeding the low flying gulls, bit of sea air in the lungs and a scoot round the tiny village shops. Parking's in a large sea front area.
could throw that in the pot with Dungee and Cheddar.

Hey, i am quite happy to lead the pack.....if you want a magical mystery tour as I would have absolutely no idea where I was going and my Satnav hates me! I'm sure we'd end up somewhere interesting though quite possibly on another continent :D

Hi guys - Having seen you all fly past me in Ireland on Sunday (I was at the Black Horse pub) and Jumplead pointing me this way I thought I'd better say Hi!

I'd be very interested in joining in any runs with you all, I know the roads around that area fairly well and as someone said earlier the PH runs are either now non-existant or stupid in numbers.

Evening all. Just taking a quick 5 minute break from the Matrix to have a quick cuppa n a ciggy and a scan over the forum.

I'll drop in later this evening from home to run over the thread in detail and reply to the points/suggestions/comments raised so far by Sunday's run.

There were/are no 'invites' to these runs Amit ;)

In the public threads about the runs, you request access there, I fiddle with stuff, you get access to a new hidden forum about the run details.

I've added access for you into the hidden 'Route Planning Forum' showing the last 2 runs.

Ah Yeah..... that'll be the PH East Anglia group :) Done a couple of their runs and they are pretty good......... quite relaxed as they usually kick off at 10am. I hope to be doing their fish n' chip run to Aldeburgh in April all being well :thumb:

............and if still looking for ideas, there's a nice day to be had in Le Touquet, just down the coast from Boulogne. Its a popular tourist resort for La French, so to be avoided in peak season, but around April just as their getting ready for influx ever thing's open but no one's there, the prices haven't gone up and a very palatable lunch is in order. There's also a huge empty car park on the beach, perfect for safe parking. But the main reason for the drive is an opportunity to visit the cash and carry on way back, stock up on good wine ,cheese and sausage, all at good prices, plus the event of actually driving on smooth tarmac that's pot hole free. Have to say I've almost forgotten what that's like.

Boris

I would second that... we are soooo uncaring for our roads... WHY ??!!

Fiona
24-02-10, 01:13 AM
The marina where I'm err...."based?" are useless when it comes to maintenance even though we pay a small fortune in mooring fees! However, even they have managed to fill the potholes in on site, ok so they've just done it with loose aggregate and not tarmaced it so it won't last but at least they're doing something! so why can't the council?

There are huge pot holes all over the place and they have been there for a very long time and getting larger. What wrong with this country? I even report potholes and they dont fix them.

Maybe we dont pay enough in fuel and road tax? err wait no that isnt it. I drove quite a lot when in australia and whereve I went nice black smooth roads, even in the middle of rainforests! Now I dont know about you but I rekon there are more roads per person in australia than here and they can do it, why cant we?
Ahh I got it, they are spending the money on speed cameras at 400K each and average speed gantrys at 350K a pop!

Hey gang, Missed out on the last one as I was rather engaged at APS in Brackley with my little 'upgrades' - an interesting proposition, adding a major component to the most expensive car I've ever bought, knowing the warranty would be toast and expecting it all to work. Apparently the air density and temperature in the UK pushed new limits for said upgrade and we had an interesting few runs with "limp mode" coming up - for those of you not familiar with the term, it is an Audi-ism for shutting down four cylinders out of eight to save the engine. Nevertheless, said head of R& D being present delayed flights and made a few intelligently guessed changes to engine map software and that plus a little resistor on the Air flow metre accommodated the low temp, high density air and apparently the steed is up and running reliably. I have to say, one test run I did on Friday without fault and the traction control was kicking in at 50 mph in third gear and I was wondering what I did.

So, sorry for the long tirade in 'code' but those of you in the know will understand. And here I sit in Austin Tx where it snowed yesterday - go figure ! It was 60 degrees, sunny and beautiful today. And I have a track day set up with the S2000 club on Saturday. Not sure what they will make of the 996 TT on that one but should be fun anyway. Weather supposed to hold at 60 and sunny.

I'm back mid March, weekend of 20/21 March would be great for a drive. BTW - when I was at Audi getting a few things done by sales rep gave me an Audi map of the "best drives in the southeast" which shows a few interesting drives. Might be worth having a look at, not that the Bman has done any wrong so far, of course. Unfortunately its at home in SW19, not here. :)
