Ok so iv had the craving for the last week or two to build a kit car with all that is going on with buying cars around here. so today i picked it up a 1998 Ford Escort WRC Car. and to be fair it has been a rather quick build see pics below :).

Yup its on a 1/10th scale lol

I hope to paint it up tommorow and get the stickers started tommorow.

....... and extraordinarily i know someone who is building exactly the same thing, though somewhat larger ............. and guess what colour........ White :yes:

The car in question makes mine look very lo-spec indeed and is now very close to completion :D and if i can get my way it'll hopefully have a chance of being on track at Dunsfold for 'Dads Day Out'................. wether it'll be there or not is out of my hands......... but i'm ever the optimist ;)

Aye indeed, i've a similar thing knocking about somewhere with an Imprezza body and a petrol engine........... when it changes up a gear it's like a bullet and could give you a seriously sore ankle :eek:

I'm guessing that the model won't have the Whale Tail spoiler like mine as the proper WRC cars had a different Aero package where also the front bumper was different and the front wings were also beaten out even wider for fitment of bigger wheels :)

Righteo update time
its taken me a couple of days to have a spare moment to go and get the paing and masking tape and stuff.
But the first parts of the car have been painted :) pics below.

Next i masked out what i didnt want to be painted so bassically all that is unmasked is the Roof, Bonnet, Front Splitter.

The wheel arches look like there going to take a very steady hand to cut out :eek: is there a definate line to follow ?

This is Harvey Gibbs in his car. Harvey is the leading light in Cosworth aftermarket tuning and has been for some time......... he built my engine. His own car is about 650 bhp and all GrpA suspension etc. Will get some better pics soon :)

Liking the black bonnet , it's been a fixture on many a Ford rallycross/racer since the 60s supposedly to reduce glare but they did that then overlooked the chrome wipers that were right in your face !

Ok next update

so i demasked the back of the car as far as i needed for the blue paint see pic below.

i then applied the sticker that goes on the outside where i needed to mask of the bllue so it was nice and accurate.

Then i set to work with the blue paint gicing the result below.

I just have some touching up with the black to do and tidyy up some bits of over spray and i have to mask the windows ready for the coat of the white stuff :).

Ok the final update :)

So i next masked up the windows so that i could now spray the white final colour pic below.

Now a lesson for next time is to check the shell better for over spray as after i had painted the white i found bits where there was blue and black overspray :( luckly theres big stickers over alot of them :).

So i decided not to take any pics of the cutting out and stickering and decided that you would proberbly just like to see the finished car :).
i used some creative artistic licencing on the bonnet and roof i think it looks alot better my way lol .

Hey Nick , Looking great mate!! I can bring my SC10 to the ace aswell so we can have a duel lol - although mine is only 2wd
