Any one suggest a good hotel in Bangkok.
No but I can recomend a visit to the floating markets at Damoen Saduak, just outside Bangkok. I stayed in an incredibly kitsch wild west themed place there which was built on stilts above the canal. It was so crap it was cool and very, very cheap, under £10 as I recall.

I stayed in the Amari Atrium.
Heard good things about the Ambassador (but that was from people that lived there & drank in it!!).
Depends where you want to stay near?

More importantly what's your budget?

budget not an issue......apart from the Peninsular at £2400 a night....might give that a miss. In Bangkok for 4 days before we shot down to island resort. So was wanting a little luxury before then. maybe somewhere round Sukumvit ....not too close to Nana plaza

my brothers place....tight sod only gave me 20% off

Wow for the price of 1 night at the Peninsular you could stay in the wood shack with the tin roof that I did for almost a whole year! Plus they offer boat rides on the lake at night to see the fireflies, a snake charming show, dodgy country and western music, a surprisingly good restaurant and a rather odd looking temple next door. Bet you don't get all that at the Peninsular......mind you, you probably do get a clean room, without cobwebs that you can't see the canal between the floorboards..... but where's the fun in that? :D

So what style of accommodation do you want?
5* luxury; backpackers or somewhere in the middle?
I had 5* but I'd have chosen Fiona's if I'd been allowed! Next time I go it will be very different!!!

TBH you don't need luxury in Thailand.
If you are in the city you are exploring so no time to make use of the room
If you are in a resort then you are lazing on the beach/pool or out enjoying the nightlife!
All you really need is a comfortable bed, shower & wardrobe!!

Well, there was a shower.....
bizarrely the bed sheet was a giant, double bed sized towel which frankly I found a little disturbing!

Eeeewwwww! Well I'm glad I threw it on the floor and slept under the kind of shawl part or whatever it's called of the Salwar Kameez I was given in Pakistan. When I was in hospital there I noticed the women were sleeping under them to keep the flies off, seemed like a damn good idea! Although in that hotel in Thailand I was more concerned about spiders dropping on me in my sleep!!

Ewwwww
Sounds like you had a bad time there :(
I was lucky, I only broke my toe and it wasn't set properly, so I'm still in agony (1999)
