View Full Version : Features
has anyone ever had their car featured in a Magazine?
Audi Driver are supposedly featuring mine once I've had my remap, going to get some pictures done myself when I go on my LONG drive on the 6th, then they want to do some themselves. There isn't anything extremely exciting about the car, apart from maybe the owner ;) LOL and the fact it has the only induction kit in the world (currently) mmm... I wonder what the feature will turn out like. It's been round the Nurburgring mmm anyway, any advice?

I had my stable featured in the PH magazine, and years ago my Celica GT4 Carlos Sainz was featured in something (i cant remember which one) as a 'sleeper' car.
What actually happened? if you can remember *cough old timer cough* as in what questions were asked?
ohh and good to see you mister!
I was once featured in jaguar enthusiast magazine for being the youngest member with two jags.
(Ok you can laugh now, john prescott and all that, heard it all before!)
Sadly now I am old
I'd offer you sympathy but I can honestly say I am not OLD ;)

Does it really? I was under the impression that they'd be quite a common mod.
Never had a car featured myself but i'm sure they ask all of the usual questions, how long you had it, what is your goals with it yadda yadda.

i prefer the word mature to old, or at least i would if i understood what maturity was!
Re questions, was the standard stuff.
why did you buy it
whats it worth
would you sell it
what have you done to it
what does it cost to run
how fast is is
how reliable is it.
why do you love it.
what else have you got
who are you
what do you do
favourite car
Jumplead - they are common, but are generally developed on someones car... Pipercross used my car to develop 3 kits for the market... I got a choice of which they left on the car :)
Pipercross are trying to get away from the boy racer branding they have and go more into track cars etc. I'm trying to make mine better for track and road so every little helps and infact has made quite a nice difference to the car - and not for a Boyraceresq appeal but just gives it that little edge and am hoping combined with the remap will make it that little more entertaining without having to spend stupid amounts of money - should be pushing 330bhp with them both, and with it in warranty I need to do things that are changeable. I will however be putting a Miltek exhaust on it eventually but for performance not Noise!! Then upgraded brakes and suspension though to be very fare it handled amazingly on track, so I'm trying to tweek other bits first. Its not going to be some rally/track slag, but want to improve on the bits that aren't quite there... if that at all makes sense?
Thought you might like to laugh at this, picture taken by Audi Driver magazine - how embarresing:

Don't suppose you are aware of Mark and the guys at Backdraft Motorsport are you?
Having one of one must be nice :)!
My Sprite was in the Austin healey club magazine in an autotest feature. I'd just sold it to a mate and she wanted me to "show her how it's done" It caused much hilarity as she was sliding around in the passenger seat screaming her head off! Not suprised we got featured! i had the Sebring there too and won first in class but that didn't get featured being what they call a "tupperware Healey!"
My first Mini, 1971, broadspeed colours, had a 4 page spread in Mini Magazine. A how to feature on fitting new chrome bumpers, grille etc (which Mini Magazine supplied :D)
My '71 Plymouth-Banjul rally Beetle has had photos in Wanderlust travel Magazine(in Morocco and Sahara Desert), as has the Micra I was co-driver in(in Mongolia) and I just sent them some pics of my Oz rally Baja so I'm expecting that to appear in either the March or April edition. Was interviewed by them once too.
Just found a couple of them, will try and scan the older stuff some time. Interview and letter printed in wanderlust

Obviously, after they were printed I changed my mind, bought a Baja and sold the Mini. :D

You usually have an option of a "Studio shoot" or "Location" , when I had mine featured (its an oldschool car) I really wanted an to do an outdoor location so did a reccy of a few possibles - outside country pubs , villages etc , they even asked me to go young country gent with wellies and tweedy jacket to add to it all , I didn't expect the two inches of fresh snow that arrived on the day but it added to the experience. If you are considering an outdoor shoot have a think about sites , a lot of people with modern cars do an industrial background - underpass/under motorway bridges , disused factory sites etc can emphasise the car styling.
awww Fiona I think I love you! a baja and a mini!!!!!! I have an old clubman, and yet to get myself an aircooled dub! had a Mk1 Golf though...
Not heard of them Jumplead?
going to get some of my own shots while having it remapped and driving on my random roadtrip... then they want me to provide maps from the induction kit and the remap, and they want to do some of their own shots also... don't think they are very far from me, bedford way maybe?

I've no experience of them, other than talking to Mark in the street (he lives round the corner from me) They appear to be VAG specialists and local.
